I added a treble bleed circuit to the 250K volume pot, 510pF cap and 100K ohm resistor. Not really a "mod", but I repaired/improved some of the shielding and ground wiring, now the guitar is quieter.

I use Bill Lawrence L45s in both positions. These pickups are open, wide range, hifi, ring like a bell (neck especially). Probably not the tone most people associate with the classic Mustang pickups, I guess. I briefly had pickups from a 70's pawnshop basket case Mustang I own in my MIJ/CIJ parts-st...

where to put new octave pedal

I recently picked up a TC Electronic Sub n' Up octave pedal, can't decide where I should put it. I'm using it with an old Gallien Krueger rackmount preamp and trying to ditch my compressor and dirt pedals and use the compressor and dirty channel of the preamp. In the effects loop, with some gain goi...

Presumably the vibrato tailpiece itself is still an inaccurate POS though. Kind seems this is akin to giving a really fancy haircut to the Elephant man I guess there's something for everybody out there, because the Mustang vibrato system works great for me, stays in tune well enough if I don't go c...

What does it do that the regular one doesn't? The arm stays where I want it to, plus the height is adjustable. The original arm was too soft of a metal and got chewed up by the grub screw. I could never get it to stay where I wanted it to. I replaced it with a strat arm that I had ground off the th...

Staytrem Mustang tremolo arm

I've been eyeing these for a couple of years. Finally bought one, wish I did it sooner. I tried all the tricks to get the stock arm to work well enough, none were satisfactory. Its a beautiful thing to look at and use, and nearly perfect. I'm having so much more fun now playing and using the trem. h...

Very Cool. I'd be tempted to buy one if Fender made them.

I play both my Bronco Bass and my Mustang through the same Gallien Krueger guitar amps (from the 80's). One is a little combo amp and one is just a preamp I use for recording. Sounds great. The stock pickup sounds good to me but I'll probably replace it someday with a Bill Lawrence dual rail pickup,...

swapping preamp tubes for less gain

I've been looking at the Randall RD1C, 1 watt tube combo amp with an effects loop and speaker emulated line output. I need a low power bedroom/recording amp. I don't need or want built in modelling effects gee-gaws, programming, USB etc, I've got a pedal board that can do all the effects I need and ...

This guitar is kind of like Fender's response to a Gibson SG Special. I thought about buying one of these and putting a Bigsby vibrato on it. I think it would be pretty cool with a Bigsby. Maybe they'd sell better if Fender put a Bigsby on them. I never pulled the trigger on it because I already hav...

Thanks! Pickups on the new Mustang are from the '78. Eventually, I am going to put them back and install hot-rails or something like that in the new one and sell the Maplestang.

Hi, first time posting here. Though I'd share shots of my Mustangs. Late 70's Mustang, refinished body (so so job). Bought it from a pawnshop in the early 90's in "rode hard and put away wet" condition. Heavy. http://og.smugmug.com/Hiking-Backpacking-and/Miscellaneous-Photos/i-qWg4MK7/0/M/...
