Thanks everyone! I'm psyched about the guitar too, trying to figure out how to best restore the frets, I'll try to take some pics to see what you all think! I saw the tuners you guys posted, but I have a feeling I'll need a bushing, I'm assuming the previous owner had them drilled out a bit, also th...

Thanks all! Appreciate the kind words, and this guitar wasn't from Real Guitars - I did see a Mustang there but it's priced super high and the color is a gross refin haha!

NGD! 1966 Fender Mustang (Daphne Blue)

Alas, my first vintage guitar. The offset to rule them all, the one that got me into offsets (basically anything not Strat or Les Paul) in the first place years ago. Funny thing is I never even got around to buying a Mustang until after I got a Jaguar and Jazzmaster (reissues, at that). Came across ...

I'm going to have to stop by the shop to take a good look. This '66 Mustang is a consignment item, so they didn't know a whole lot about the guitar. Based on the specs below is $875 (total price, inclusive of tax) fair? From what I'm hearing: '66 original in blue (they didn't specify which shade) 2 ...

Thanks so much for your reply, that is really helpful! I can't wait to look for a great Mustang. I'm worried about "refins" - I don't think I care too much whether the finish is OG or not, but obviously an original finish is generally going to be a lot more valuable than a refinish - so I ...

I was gonna say the same thing! That's a sick bass! Your band sounds good, definitely can't imagine drumming and singing at the same time...

Shopping for 1st Vintage! (Mustang)

Fellow short-scale enthusiasts, I think I've caught the bug hard, would love to shop around for a vintage Fender Mustang - oddly enough this is the guitar that got me interested in offsets in the first place, but instead I somehow ended up buying a Jaguar and Jazzmaster instead! I'm honestly a bit w...

I'm Taiwanese-American! I feel like most of the offset-lovin' comes from Japan, they're definitely into the quirky, offbeat American stuff over there. Fender Japan's definitely done a great job keeping it alive there. For me, I've always liked the Jaguar because it: * Is short scale; I've got small...

Toronado's are so cool, congrats. They are one of the first guitars, if not the first, that got me into the world of offsets!

First, welcome to the forum. I'm a longtime off-and-on player trying to get more disciplined too, so I hear you. Everyone else will likely tell you "practice," and I will too. But another thing that's helped me a lot since I started hanging around shortscale is recording songs for the com...

Learning & Becoming Better as Guitarist

Hey all, I was hoping you could all help me decide on a method of getting better at guitar. If I'll be totally honest, I've been playing on and off for many, many years now. Over the course of many years, I've moved, studied, and worked all around the states (and even internationally!). That being s...
