It looks really good, like custom shop or something. I'd be tempted to do something with the switches and knobs. Fuzz circuit? oh thanks it might be an idea. maybe keep, like a classic jaguar, the rythm circuit and the low cut switch. but i prefer to do sound variations with my playing, how & w...

Can you give us a little more detail on the 'bathed it in vinegar' part. Did that help remove the rust? What else did you do to clean it up? ALSO, just like everyone else has said, your guitar looks amazing! Thanks :) . A good 24hr soak in vinegar will lift off a lot of rust. I'm sure there are mor...

Update: I've cut a new pickguard and replaced the trem. I picked up a rusty '66 Mustang trem unit on ebay for $30, bathed it in vinegar and cleaned it up etc. This trem is much more stable than the CIJ one, and even the sustain is improved. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v665/RollingJ/65%20Mustan...

It worked! I found a '66 Mustang trem unit for $30 on ebay and took a punt. A few hours soaking in vinegar and some autoglym got rid of the rust. The unit fits on perfectly (it is about half a mm more narrow than the reissue plate, but fits around the bridge thimbles and screw holes). And best of al...

Thanks for the info; everything is useful. If I can find a relatively cheap vintage trem unit I'll give it a go.

Good to hear. I might give it a shot. I'm not sold on the MIJ trem unit.

Mixing US and JP Mustang parts question

Can anyone tell me if a '66 USA Mustang trem unit will fit on an MIJ '65 Classic Mustang? Not the bridge piece, just the trem unit.
Cheers :)

I like it. I don't know why, but for me it works better than comp blue. While it clearly is a bit of a tribute to aged blue compstangs. Incidentally, are you just going to rock out as is or get a decal for the headstock? Thanks, I love the aged blue look. Yes, that was the inspiration, though I've ...
