Can we discuss tonal differences between those pickups you mentioned? I am intrigued at the strat or jag in the neck. Like I said I haven't been able to play a jag before so I am curious to what they are like compared to a strat.

Let's talk Jag-Stang pickup Replacements

I know there are like 1000 posts about this but I just wanted a fresh modern opinion on this. I wanted to discuss good pickup replacements for this guitar. A jaguar neck pup sounds like a good idea to me but I am not very well educated on good humbucker pickups for the bridge. Looking at an indie ro...

Mustang '65 Reissue vs Mustang 65 Classic Series?

Hello again Shortscale you have all helped me so much with information on various guitars! I just wanted to ask if there was a difference between a Mustang 65 RI and a Mustang 65 Classic series. The specs seem the same but are these really the same guitars or are there actual differences? Couldnt te...

There is one on Ebay Listed for 900 in the Original run model in great condition. I am considering making an offer for it. $750 a good offer you guys think? Or should I hold out and wait for a RI to pop up on reverb for cheaper?

Great info, thank you! I prefer slab bodies over contour ones. I guess I just like the old vintage style look. I have a telecaster and that isn't contoured and it is fine. My super-sonic is contoured and I guess I don't notice it that much really so it doesnt make a difference to me besides the look...

So as I said before, I do have a 2002 Jag-Stang. Not sure if it sounds/plays better than a 1996 Jag-Stang, but it doesn't sound great stock. I like to play open chords and then add something more by hammering on the high E with my pinkie. With the stock Jag-Stang, those high notes really don't ring...

Expensive. I got my Jag-Stang in MINT condition from a store in a foreign country where Squier gear starts at $500 US. You can do better than that if you're patient. I like my Jag-Stang, but my daily driver is my CIJ Vista Jagmaster. The necks are slightly different but both rad. What do you think ...

Both made out of basswood AFAIK, but that really doesn't matter, don't get too hung up on body wood. Seriously. Maybe the older ones look greener due to aging? I've owned 2 both from the reissue run (a 2002 and a 2004) and they were definitely basswood, I remember obsessing on this too. Both great ...

Jag-Stang Reissue (2000s) vs Original Run (1990s)

So I have started looking at Jag-Stangs and I know the main difference between the original run and the reissue is that the original was made out of basswood and the reissue was made out of alder. Is there any other differences to be concerned about? I hear the paint on the original sonic blue tends...

Looking at some listings on ebay and what do you guys think I should pay for a blue jagstang with 1 or 2 minor dings with a return policy? There are several listings between 800-950.

Strats are amazing. Incredible sound but I would prefer a telecaster (I have a squier CV Tele and it sounds awesome). In the end though I would rather play a shortscale. Also the fact that the strat is sooooooooo overused by every band ever makes me want to stay away from it. Lots of people use the...

I think overall since I have learned mostly playing my Fender Super-Sonic (Which I have heard has a fatter neck than the Squier) I can get down with a '65 RI. I don't think the neck will be as fat as my super-sonic which will make it much better. I have managed to get clean sounding barres with my s...

Nothing you can do other than drive about looking for one, or see if anyone here is nearby and has one you could try. I understand the fear but you've not got many options it seems. Yeah for sure. I think it'll be between a '65 reissue with maybe a distant possibility of a jag-stang. Wish I could f...
