Re: fuckin super sonic volume knobs

Broe. You basically just said "google it". I haven't looked in a while, but here's what I found. This is not my drawing. http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-4KCDUI04mEM/TZK2ySgRAsI/AAAAAAAACBU/VpqXJF_TaAQ/s1600/supersonic_wiring.png http://geekversusguitar.blogspot.com/2011/03/squier-super-sonic-wir...

Re: Wiring LEDs

So I wired up the LED. Initially, I'd just snipped the existing LED off and stripped the ends of the wires for the new one. As I was soldering the second wire, the positive wire snapped at the solder joint on the PCB.... I was NOT equipped to do a desolder job so I did what anyone in my position wo...

Re: Wiring LEDs

Diffuse means the light doesn't shoot straight out like a beam of piss. It likely will just make it omni-directional blinding.

Do you guys not have resistors in the UK?

Re: Wiring LEDs

There's also the "apparent brightness" of different colors, often you want a higher resistance for blues and greens than you do with reds. The circuit should be fine, I think what you mean by "parallel circuit" is that the LED is normally not the same path that the rest of the ci...

Re: fuckin super sonic volume knobs

Educated guess: when either knob is all the way off, it shorts the circuit and completely kills the signal. You see this on Gibson [email protected]@K 4 knob dudes. However, that shouldn't matter if you have it switched to either pickup by itself. Open it up and make sure that the wiring has the volume knob wired...

Re: 20-40w tube amps - what do we like SS?

A 100 watt attenuator can’t really take a 100 watt amp down to home volumes, they are meant to cut some of the volume, not all of it. I use a 50 watt one on an 18 watt and a 5 watt amp, the 18 watt is still pretty loud if you want it to still sound good, but the 5 watt keeps its tone at home volume...

Re: 20-40w tube amps - what do we like SS?

I've been shopping around for something Twin-like but not earbusting as well. The Supersonic was one route, but I was also considering a Champ. I am probably going to test out pulling two power tubes and one speaker from my Twin to see how that goes. Supposedly drops the wattage to like 30-ish. Migh...

Re: Done bought a vox ac30

If it's as heavy as a Twin, I learned to proper lift with that thing. Squat down, hug the amp, then stand up. It's not that terrible once you get the hang of it. I'm a little dude but I can carry the Twin without too much trouble that way.

I'm looking forward to hearing that bitcrusher. I have been lusting for the EHX Mainframe since I found out it existed, but the price for something I only may use sometime stopped me.

Re: SHORTSCALEGEARDEMO: Joyo American Sound

In my opinion everyone should own a joyo /Harley Benton American sound I have two They really are that good. No speaker emulation but still just glorious as a straight to board or make it sound good in headphones kind of pedal. I do most of my playing or testing of pedals through one of these set t...

Re: pictures of your shortscales

Trying to convert a newly bought shitty right handed guitar to play it left handed every other night had to be a giant PITA, as most electric guitars need a lot of modding to make them any playable. I can confirm, converted right-handed guitars are dogshit. My first guitar was one of these: http://...

Re: SHORTSCALEGEARDEMO: Joyo American Sound

I've got a bunch of the Joyo/Harley Benton ones but the manuals for the original Tech 21 versions have some suggested settings to (supposedly) get the sounds of the original amps. This manual covers the Blonde (Fender), British (Marshall), California (Mesa) and Liverpool (Vox): LANK The suggested s...

Re: SHORTSCALEGEARDEMO: Joyo American Sound

Thanks doog. I got the Joyo wishlisted on Reverb so I don't forget about it, maybe at some point I'll manage to snag one. This thread started me down a rabbit hole, to find out exactly what kind of "amp" I was modeling with my preferred Sansamp Classic settings, so now I am also looking at...

I'm more than happy to help that. You guys are seriously good. Your singer reminds me of something between Huggy Bear and the Raincoats. I am stoked to hear more songs from y'all.

Re: SHORTSCALEGEARDEMO: Joyo American Sound

I'm still trying to figure out what kind of pedal to get to match my Sansamp Classic setting. Anyone know of a site that lists that sort of thing?

Also, Doog, do you know if this thing can do the Bassman voice?

Re: SHORTSCALEGEARDEMO: Joyo American Sound

Interesting. I've been looking to find a Boss Bassman pedal after a friend let me borrow one, and it sounds great, but they are over $200 now. This thing seems cheap to try out, to see if I can dial in the particular Bassman+Twin sound I want. Basically, the BM voice into my Twin sounds fucking awes...

I've always appreciated EK's verbosity and loquaciousness, even though I occasionally disagree with his logic.

Then again, it's not unknown for me to write essays-as-posts, either.

I have found that turning up loud as fuck does indeed fix most sound issues.
