Oh, that grey shit on the body is glue?? I just always assumed it was like a primer layer before the blue went on.
Those knobs look so much better on it.

Re: bronco restore
Glad to see this guy get some love and attention. I'm not sure I ever took the guard off that thing.
Regarding the finish, at least the refin is also incredibly thin coat as well, so it shouldn't take that much to get it off.
Glad it made the journey back to Cali!

Re: Guitar woods and tone
Yeah, I said the same thing. The overtones are the results of the mass absorbing some of the vibration. It's basically a graphic EQ in wood. The actual, real difference in the electrical signal (because the strings are what create the signal) is less than a percent. You can just drop one side of a p...

Re: Guitar woods and tone
Mass makes a difference in...what? You literally can only hear the electrical system. Wood does not make any change to that electrical system, it is not conductive whatsoever, with the exception of mechanically absorbing some of the vibration, which I said in my first post. However, it makes such a ...

Re: Guitar woods and tone
Two of the same model guitar will sound different given different pickup heights and pot/cap values. Comparing a LP to an SG has so many possible factors there. I dug up the vid. Listen for yourself. I know most people won't sit for 20 minutes and watch the whole thing, so I set it to the end of it ...

Re: Project: Player Jaguar in mahogany
I watched some vids last night about finishing mohag with tung oil, and it does look light before the oil application, and darkens up afterwards. No grain fill done, apparently one technique is to apply oil, then 4000 grit light sand to clog the oil-soaked grain with particles of the wood. The oil e...

Re: Guitar woods and tone
I haven't seen it in a while but there's some vids on youtube of a guy who went out and tried a bunch of different woods with an electric pickup, eventually even just straight bolting the strings across two separated wood pieces that were unconnected, and the difference is basically zero. The only a...

Re: Project: Player Jaguar in mahogany
Shit, these pics suck. Hold up, gonna rotate and reattach them. Okay, so it arrived today. First impressions, they did a great job. It feels very smooth, nothing needing to be dressed or anything like that. This is quality. They 100% nailed the 40mm nut width, confirmed with calipers (1.57 inch, Rob...

Re: Project: Player Jaguar in mahogany
Bacchus, I agree. The extra cost wasn't as much as I really expected, so that was fine for me. Thomas, I don't have it yet to find out about the screw holes. I had them drill them as an option. Further, the body will be custom made so I can just make sure the holes all line up at that point. However...

Re: Project: Player Jaguar in mahogany
I ordered the neck from Musikraft, though since I delayed in ordering it, prices have gone up a bit. Came out a bit higher than I originally specc'd, which sucks, but it is what it is. What is the damage on a Musikraft neck these days? They have always been a premiumpricey choice but the quality of...

Re: Project: Player Jaguar in mahogany
The ORM-1L finally sold, shipped to a dude in Ottawa. Plays in a powerpunk band up there, he sent me a link to his Spotify. So, it's gonna get some use. That made me happy. Broe. You basically just said "google it". I haven't looked in a while, but here's what I found. This is not my drawing. http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-4KCDUI04mEM/TZK2ySgRAsI/AAAAAAAACBU/VpqXJF_TaAQ/s1600/supersonic_wiring.png http://geekversusguitar.blogspot.com/2011/03/squier-super-sonic-wir...

Re: Wiring LEDs
So I wired up the LED. Initially, I'd just snipped the existing LED off and stripped the ends of the wires for the new one. As I was soldering the second wire, the positive wire snapped at the solder joint on the PCB.... I was NOT equipped to do a desolder job so I did what anyone in my position wo...

Diffuse means the light doesn't shoot straight out like a beam of piss. It likely will just make it omni-directional blinding.

Re: Wiring LEDs
There's also the "apparent brightness" of different colors, often you want a higher resistance for blues and greens than you do with reds. The circuit should be fine, I think what you mean by "parallel circuit" is that the LED is normally not the same path that the rest of the ci...

Re: fuckin super sonic volume knobs
Educated guess: when either knob is all the way off, it shorts the circuit and completely kills the signal. You see this on Gibson [email protected]@K 4 knob dudes. However, that shouldn't matter if you have it switched to either pickup by itself. Open it up and make sure that the wiring has the volume knob wired...

Re: 20-40w tube amps - what do we like SS?
A 100 watt attenuator can’t really take a 100 watt amp down to home volumes, they are meant to cut some of the volume, not all of it. I use a 50 watt one on an 18 watt and a 5 watt amp, the 18 watt is still pretty loud if you want it to still sound good, but the 5 watt keeps its tone at home volume...

Re: 20-40w tube amps - what do we like SS?
I've been shopping around for something Twin-like but not earbusting as well. The Supersonic was one route, but I was also considering a Champ. I am probably going to test out pulling two power tubes and one speaker from my Twin to see how that goes. Supposedly drops the wattage to like 30-ish. Migh...

Re: Done bought a vox ac30
If it's as heavy as a Twin, I learned to proper lift with that thing. Squat down, hug the amp, then stand up. It's not that terrible once you get the hang of it. I'm a little dude but I can carry the Twin without too much trouble that way.
