Re: Strings for 3/4 acoustic
Cheers. I mean, yeah, I already gave that guitar to a charity shop, but this is good info anyway.

Love those ridiculous’60s kitchen device dials and I don’t know why.

Yeah loving it. Getting the Bryan Adams fingers from playing it too much.

Re: Acoustic guitar recommendations (I ended up buying a Yamaha FG830)
So, yeah. That was a much harder choice than I anticipated. Both the Sigma 000M15 and the Yamaha FG830 felt really nice to play and sounded really good. I had thought I'd go for the Yamaha on looks alone if they felt/sounded similar but irl the Yamaha looked a bit worse (more plasticy looking) and t...

Re: Acoustic guitar recommendations
After looking up reviews, the Sigma that Bacchus recommended is now in a head to head with the Yamaha FG830. Honestly, I love the look of the Yamaha, so if there's not much difference between the sound/feel of the Sigma I will end up getting the Yamaha on looks alone. Took a halfie off work tomorrow...

Re: Acoustic guitar recommendations
Ok, interesting. This seems like the recommendation I'm looking for. In that £300 range and seems justifiably worth the extra £200. I have a friend that plays a lot of acoustic and he said I should just get a Little Martin for playing in the house. I'm kind of immediately resistant because of the Ed...

Re: Dan Auerbach
Pretty sure the only guitars I’ve owned with hambackers are the ones I fitted them into.

Acoustic guitar recommendations (I ended up buying a Yamaha FG830)
Been thinking about picking up a new acoustic. Just for playing round the house. I used to have a Yamaha F310 years ago (have no memory what I actually did with that guitar). I remember liking it at the time, so I figured I might buy another, but I am doing alright for money these days, so I thought...

Re: Epiphone Valve Jnr repair
Yeah, I just reassembled my jack plate and plugged into the Valve Jnr and it does still buzz / hum a bit but I think that's at the aforementioned amp problem. Same hum when no guitar plugged in. So, a bunch of contact cleaner did the trick. With a little help from my friend Baron Wiggle dé Wiggle. A...

Re: Epiphone Valve Jnr repair
I unscrewed the jack plate and everything is grounded to the volume pot. I tried touching everything all over the place to see if I could figure out what wasn't grounded while holding onto the volume pot and I realised that putting pressure at an angle on the pot itself, without touching anything, w...

'66 Jaguar (oh, my)
Just saw this. I thought it was a reissue at first because it's so clean. Holy moly, I want this.

Re: Epiphone Valve Jnr repair
FFS. Turns out it's not just the amp. It's the amp plus my Jaguar is having some kind of grounding issues. I was think actually that buzz is really too loud to be normal so I tried my Tele, and after fucking about with the now dodgy switch on that, I got it to work and it's way way quieter. So, basi...

Re: Epiphone Valve Jnr repair
So I skooshed a load of IPA through both the volume and master volume and gave them both a good old wiggle-de-wiggle. Left it until now to dry out and it seems like it's back to life. I think the pots just needed cleaned. Has a hell of a noisy buzz, but I seem to remember it always being like that. ...

Re: Epiphone Valve Jnr repair
This is all making me think I should just buy a fancy new solid state practice amp.
