NGD: Vintera Mustang

Hey shortscale, been a while (again). I've been eyeing up mustangs for a while. Went down to GAK in Brighton last weekend to "have a look". You know how that goes. IMG_2340.jpeg I love the finish, it's made me realise every guitar I've owned is on the brown end of the spectrum. It had a fu...

Funnily enough the friend who originally lent me his HM-2 just sent me this video out of the blue.

Nicely done demo mate.

Are they these ones , Reece? 40-90 does maybe seem a bit light. The D'Addario short scale ones come in 40-95 ("Super Light"), 45-100 ("Regular Light") and 50-105 ("Medium"). I've got the half round "regular light" ones and the tension on the low E is fine but...

What is the bass they're going on? I recently put a set of Rotosound RS77s (flatwound, shortscale) on my Hi Flyer bass, I love how they play and sound on that. For roundwounds I'm not really as sure, most basses come with rounds-they never break and my fingers aren't that oily so they last forever....

Very nice.

Being suddenly in the market for a new bass that ivory one looks very tempting. Would be interested to hear what you think when you can plug it in.

hahaha priceless as ever paul.

I've tried the steve albini belt...strap...thingy on a guitar before but you can't angle the neck up towards you so it was pretty uncomfortable. You can see he's got the bent wrist claw hand in that photo to reach.

Straps for heavy guitars?

Hello shortscale long time no see n' all that. So I've been playing a bit of bass recently. I've got one these cheap Harley Benton ones from Thomann and it's fucking heavy . If my scales are right it's 5.5kb (about 12 lbs). I can barely play it for 20 minutes standing up before my left shoulder has ...

Passive overdrive (with demo!)

I've been looking for something interesting to do with my Jaguar's never used tone circuit recently and noticed I have a habit of dialling in a teeny tiny bit of overdrive basically all the time. But what if the overdrive was coming from inside the guitar? oh boy it's passive overdrive. Either you s...

I know there are copies of the DMM on the market, but I think you need the nane brand if you want the hazarai. I found my SMMH on eBay for about $160. Out of curiosity, what sort of settings are you using for reverse reverb? I've had it set as a present for so long that I can't remember what the ex...

Memory man like tones on a budget

So my friend tried my stereo memory man with hazarai and I think I got him hooked on looped droney reverse reverb goodness. The price tag of a new one is a bit steep for him, is there a pedal (or couple of pedals) I could recommend him? He wants a looper too. Might just tell him to keep his eye on e...
