Re: Squier VM Jaguar top load bridge any good?

I still have ‘em granted I’ve been super flaky about getting Astro his but I can still sell ‘em Hey, no worries! I know you’re busy, plus it’s the holiday season. So I totally get it if it takes some time. Saw this for sale in Finland, asking €22 shipped. Is it any good for a musicmaster project or...

Here’s my new favourite guitar colour name: ”Sonic Cheese” http://www.ebay.com/itm/275423302145?hash=item4020821201:g:n8QAAOSw2ipi-bkC&amdata=enc%3AAQAHAAAAoAoUOT5xN2NDYKh7XV33C9rXTmKDhtZJnAcv%2F%2BTTDPNvt5ybvHTPvOh%2FpgYVh4NA2qlP9FLn3cywnomfFNK5TejpHhlE32oHS4YLye306ogL8BYBaKO2R6XNNcdxf%2BgKuhS%...

Re: Duo/Musicmaster Bridgeplate/Tail Piece Makin' Adventures

Has anyone tried Gotoh 3 barrel saddles? I just got some and I’m curious to know if they would fit this plate without enlarging the holes for the intonation screws.

Re: NGD: Squier mustang!

Lighter fluid might work, but if not, try denatured alcohol. That's the common fluid for de-gluing things, demonstrated by the LockPickingLawyer on youtube, even anti-tamper stickers. I normally just use 90% isopropyl and haven't yet found anything that it didn't work on, but maybe this sticker is ...

Re: NGD: Squier mustang!

I love the color! Also didn't realize those are 12" radius. The fretboard wood I'd guess is Indian laurel...the current Fender hierarchy seems to be laurel < pau ferro < rosewood but I have the laurel on a few necks and it's not bad looking, sometimes more consistent color-wise than the pau fe...

NGD: Squier mustang!

I bought a Squier Bullet Mustang in Sonic Gray! http://live.staticflickr.com/65535/52505222874_35e3c5bb79_k.jpg Wait a second… it looks a little different… it has more pickguard screws, like a “proper” Mustang. And the humbuckers are different too, they now each have a coil with screws whereas the p...

How good is a new guitar that costs $89.99?

So the last thing I need is a new guitar. But as I was window shopping on eBay I stumbled across this $89.99 USD strat copy from Monoprice. I googled and found a whole bunch of raving reviews for this model. So I bought it. It arrived today: http://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51976567645_8a7b24035c_...

Beautiful bass, I’ve always wanted one of these! I’ve been thinking lately of getting a Squier jazz bass to tune BEAD. The 70’s model you have looks killer with the black blocks and binding, this is the model I would get if I go down that road. I use Ernie Ball slinkies for roun...

Maybe it's an age thing? Was born in poo-brown guitar era, and love poo-brown guitars. Have had a Deluxe like the above (it was AWFUL), an SG, and this Mustang I traded a Vibrochamp to Reece for (which was so heavy it generated its own gravitational pull - Reece did warn me). http://farm4.static.fl...

I tried the Mustang Micro with the headphone out plugged into the "return" input of the effects loop on my SWR bass combo and it sounds pretty good. However, it didn't sound good plugged into the instrument input of the Concert 2, it was squealing up a storm. I suspect it would have worked...

So can you plug this shit into an amp instead of headphones? It would be like a micro pod I was curious so I tried it out. My youngest is asleep so I tried it through my Roland Micro Cube on low volume and it seems to work well. I will try again tomorrow through my Concert II to see how it sounds a...

Fender Mustang Micro

Just got one today. I am impressed! The models sound pretty good. Although all the models are all designed for guitar, some sound quite good with bass. The 65 Twin + compressor model sounds best to my ears with bass guitar. I am playing this through mediocre ear buds and it sounds full and nice. htt...

damn must be quite sensitive, i never bother unless it's capacitors but might do the same on switches and pots in the future how is the volume difference between humbuckers and split coils ? I think the switches I used had cheap plastic internal parts that might have melted and warped from the heat...

did you figure out wat it was yet ? I'm a total noob at guitar electronics (or any electronics), something like this would drive me nuts have a spare switch to compare and see if somethings's up with the one not doing what it should ? I finally had time to redo the switch tonight. I replaced it wit...

So I tested all my solder joints on the switch with a multimeter, and they all seem fine. However, when I tested the switch itself, the connection to ground does not seem to happen when I flip the switch. I tested both switch position, and neither works. Could this be a dud switch? Or could I have c...

Aaaaaaaaand once again I have fucked something up with my soldering. I wired the two switches to the stock humbuckers this evening. The bridge coil split works great! Distinctly different sounds in each switch position, with the typical hum in single coil mode. The neck pickup, however, gives me the...

New pickups and coil splitting hambackers in my jaguar

Although they’re great pickups, I’ve gotten a bit bored of the stock Duncan Designed hambackers in my jaguar. http://live.staticflickr.com/7314/12626230574_1fe7a29a87_b.jpg So, I ended up purchasing new pickups for it. I ordered a Dimarzio Super Distortion for the bridge and a Super-2 ...

It sounds really good! I read a lot of reviews of these types of kits before buying, and pretty much all of them said that everything but the wood was junk, plus they needed fret jobs and new nuts. I don't know if I got lucky or if this particular kit company (Saga) has better QC than others. I was ...

You didn't miss it, I forgot to mention it. I didn't end up using Tung oil. I just used the same wipe-on polyurethane on the back of the neck and it came out pretty nice
