I played one the other day. What struck me the most were the giant frets and the fact that I noticed the flatter fretboard radius immediately. Despite the dinky strings, it played well, comparable to my (now departed) 65 RI. The small body didn't bother me. I liked the pickups better than I expected...

They're up on Musician's Friend. $799.

The picture of the LPB Mustang Special on the counter is a winner. I'm glad that the stupid Enforcer pickups have the Fender stamp on the covers.

That's a good point. But it's still an extra $280 plus shipping and time, when they could have just used reissue WRHBs in the first place.

Ugh, I was so excited about those first rumors but if these are the final specs it's really frustrating. I can live with the 9.5 radius neck and the medium jumbo frets, although I would have preferred a straight-ahead Mustang neck. The tiny body I could probably deal with. But I can't understand the...

If that's it, you can sign me up for two. The only flaw is the Enforcers, and the fact that they have two screws on the bass side. I wonder if it would be possible to make some kind of adapter so you could swap in a regular hb without drilling an extra hole? Or if Novak would be able to convert thes...

I saw this on Premier Guitar's Facebook page:

Could this be it? Or a prototype? The body looks more offset than a normal Mustang.

That's super cool. You should find out if it was used on any recording sessions. He produced Pavement's Brighten the Corners, and lots of other things.

My first electric was a T-30 just like that one. Can't say that I miss it exactly, but those pictures did give me a pang of nostalgia. I had the case, but it either didn't come with the amp inside, or it had been removed. If I recall correctly, the bridge saddle is one solid piece, but it's adjustab...

New free digital single from the Metric Mile

The Metric Mile, which has been my primary band practically forever, has a new free digital single out today. It comes from Holiday Records, the people who brought you the Drums and Surfer Blood. Did I mention it's free? Download it here http://i586.photobucket.com/albums/ss304/holidayrec/metricmile...

Sorry to dig up an old thread, but has anyone actually played through a Valve Senior yet? I've been looking around, and no one seems to have it in stock. The reviews I've read have been positive, except that some people don't like the reverb. I was thinking about getting a Blues Jr., but I'm trying ...

It's nice until you need a refret. Since the finish is applied over the frets, all of the finish needs to be sanded off the fretboard before the frets can be replaced, and then reapplied. It makes for a more expensive and time consuming process. I've often seen refretted Rics where the owners didn't...

The other tele 12 strings I've seen have either used this Gotoh bridge , or just the saddles from the Gotoh attached to a toploading tele bridge plate. So the main strings go through the body and the octave strings are anchored at the back of the bridge plate. I've been thinking about building one o...

I may be crazy, but I'd play that as is. I like the neck humbucker/bridge single coil combo, although I'll admit I've never played a mustang with that configuration. Is the extra switch a coil tap? Any guesses about the original color? White switches with black pu cover?

I would probably go for the black if it was 100% my call, but the lady is voting for white/black/white. We'll probably go with that.

Those white covers really save the tort though. Yet another option to think about!

UPDATE: we bought a white CIJ mustang bass today! Found a used one for a good price, and I used my CV jazz bass as a partial trade in. Unfortunately the pickguard is a particularly heinous brown tort, so now we're left to decide what to swap in instead.

Man, I would love to see a 12 string version of that telemaster thing. If the neck pocket is standard size, I'm going to be very tempted to attempt to convert one using a Warmoth neck.

Now that I've spent some more time with it, I'm sure of two things. It's definitely a keeper, and it's going to take a little bit of effort to get it set up and sounding its best. First off, the neck is really perfect. It looks good, it's substantial without being too fat for my smallish hands, and ...

I'll do a review tomorrow and take some better pictures. I'm already starting to think about a couple of mods (500k pots, almost definitely) but I want to take the time to set it up properly and play through an amp at a decent volume before I make any hasty decisions.
