for me, the equipment I use depends on what I need for the job. so +1 to that point. I currently use a tuner, overdrive and delay, but thats all i need at the moment.

have you tried stretching the strings at all? make sure its properly set up before you drop coin on tuners that probably aren't as quality...

do you have any interest in the line 6 M5? it has theres 4 or 5 phasers as well as several chorus', tremolo, etc. and they are all VERY adjustable with 5 parameters to control.

I use a bit of reverb and a low mixed dynamic delay on all the time (well, not ALL the time)
luckily the Bassman and my closed/SUPER sturdy 212 already has that '3d' thing going on.

Open Orange 212 is spot on. A mate of mine has one, he's had a tiny terror, rocker 30 and a mesa dual rec. Every amp he or i had sounded amazing through that cab, my Bassman 50 could really grind through that thing, and if we wanted more bass we would put it in a corner.
