Re: Best inexpensive sustain pedals?

For more rootsy sounds, I'd personally go for something a little more "overdrivey" and less "distortiony" than that Deadbeat, if you're not going for actual clean sustain, like NickS was saying.

Are you running the amp overdriven/distorted?

Re: Pickup options for a Strat project

You could try Entwistle pickups if you want cheap and cheerful: LINK I’ve had a couple of the humbuckers which were decent, and Doog then bought from me for a HH strat project I believe. Yeah, really like 'em! Have still yet to do the coilsplitting I aimed to, but one day! Based on personal experie...

Re: Building a two-channel custom RAT

Yeah, I've honestly had some very "realistic" guitar recordings made by absent-mindedly throwing a phone near a guitar amp; the compression will help pick up some of the room to remove some of that kind "close mic sterility"

Re: Momentary lapse of reason: Squier Paranormal Offset Tele in Shell Pink

I thought that was the point though? That your strings should move freely across your nuts? That's why people give their nuts a good lubing. The problem would be that the tuner tightens the string and it jerks across your nuts or gets stuck and shoots through later, unexpectedly. *loosens collar* P...

Re: Building a two-channel custom RAT

Oh man, this sounds so close to the TWAT pedal I made by rehouse and fucking with my old LM308 (special magic chip) version years ago. Before I somehow fried it in a feedback loop pedal, frown . I added a footswitchable series pot to the gain dial to act as an 'overdrive channel', and also added a s...
