I would not be at all surprised by the existence of guitars with similar stories to this. it's a prototype of some kind since nothing like it has ever surfaced, but it's old enough the people involved are likely dead or not going to remember some random creation somebody had around the office. You ...

this would blast everything that was ever written or known about these guitars ... which is a tough call for an ebay listing. It says everywhere that they were made in the late 60s from leftover parts. They were - specifically, in 1969 - not in 1966, as the listing seems to suggest. While the neck ...

I have a '94 MIJ Mustang neck with a T serial number - T0347XX. That thing is fantastic! It's not too narrow, but it is really slim from front to back, with fairly narrow shoulders. It's exceptionally comfortable to play, especially if you have small hands.

First of all - Happy Birthday! :)

Second - VERY NICE!! 8)

Third - is the neck pretty slim on that? How would you describe the profile and size? I'm not familiar with the shape or feel of the CIJ Q serial era Jags, but weren't KC's favorite guitars supposed to have pretty thin necks on them?

I'm not sure why they selected the appointments that they did. It probably just comes down to the designer / master builder's personal taste and selection. They're not meant to be vintage-correct or anything. I've never seen a Mustang with that nice a piece of maple for the neck. Or in most of those...

Every year at NAMM for the past few years, Fender's Custom Shop has been doing a "color wall"; they pick one model, and then do one of those guitars in every traditional / historic custom color. Last year, I believe they did Telecasters. This year, it was all about Mustangs with nitrocellu...

It says in the description that it's 85% that of a standard guitar. I don't know if that means scale or body size. I think that would make sense for the scale as that would be a 21.675" scale. That seems about right. I was going to guess in the 22" - 22.5" scale range based on the co...

I've got a few different 24" Fender necks. My '75 Music Master is tiny. Super slim from the center of the fingerboard to the back of the neck. My '94 MIJ Mustang neck is nearly as shallow. Both are "B" width necks (1 5/8" wide at the nut) and have a "C" shaped neck prof...

I think I would be more interested in these without the built in amp, if I was interested at all. +1. Cut all the built in electronics crap out and give me the funky body shapes on the cheaps with one pickup and basic controls. I've been watching these for the last couple years at NAMM shows. Vox k...

I'm not wild about the 22.5" Fender necks. They feel too small to me, and intonation / tuning can definitely be difficult. OTOH, I love Taylor's GS Mini, and it has a 23.5" scale neck. The vintage 24" and 22.5" necks are interchangeable on the Mustangs, Duo Sonics and Musicmaster...

I gotta say Phil.. I like the idea of a TOM and agree with Owens extra mass=more sustain theory. I fitted a TOM on the Jag-Stang i built and im impressed with the Squier JMJM as well. Thanks for the info though, some guys will no doubt want to keep it traditional. They have a slightly different fee...

BTW, those are some nice guitars, Phil. I especially like the seafoam green Duo. Did you refinish those? Thank you. :o Yes, I did the paint on all three. The Music Master's body was a replacement / non-original, and it's me trying my hand at relicing. The neck is a stock mid 70s Fender neck. The Mu...

I get around that by using a $10 - $12 set of compensated brass replacement saddles. They have the added benefit of increasing sustain, and they sound great. Where did you get those saddles? I wouldn't mind trying that. http://www.wdmusic.com/compensated_tele_bridge_saddle_set_brass.html http://sto...

I would at least opt for a mustang bridge.... Don't forget guys - these are 9.5" radius necks, vs the traditional Mustang's 7.25" fingerboard radius... a stock Mustang bridge and saddles won't work properly. Warmoth makes a replacement Mustang style bridge with adjustable saddles (for $50...

Re: i broke my nutts

the little bit on the end of my Jaguar nut busted off. stupid 13 strings. guess i gotta go buy one of these new squier ones since the made in America fender one is an epic fail. Sorry to hear that, but don't blame the guitar for your own error. The AVRI's comes from the factory with 10s installed, ...

There's definitely a difference in sound and IMHO in feel with a hardtail vs a vibrato tailpiece. Also, the layout of the pickups is different on the Squier Duo Sonic. I doubt we'll see it happen any time soon, but I'd love to see Squier reissue a Duo Sonic II. I suspect that we won't see that while...
