Almost bought one of those TZ2s umpteen times - loads of the incidental music in Ocean's 11 featured one of those, dullfact fans.

Dave, I didn't realise the arm flopped around - I can't handle that. Sort it through whatever means necessary.

It's Brazilian Cedar, Fran - same look and weight as Honduras mahogany, apparently, but much more hakuna matata for the planet, so I'm told: it's what a lot of nice acoustic guitars are made from. No neck dive at all, I think because of where the strap buttons are. I love the DCs, and truth be told,...

Re: fender blender????

"mosquito fuzz" With all due respect to m'learned colleague, I disagree a lot: played a couple of clones (a perf build and a Ronsound Flender) and they were lovely and full: something I love about a good octave fuzz is how it'll make the bass sound all tubular (forgive me, I'll take my re...

My New Gordon Smith GS1.60 (updated TLDR edition)

Hey kids. Forgive me for not posting this up sooner, but I've been up to my eyeballs. Anyhow, short version: it's lovely. Far too long version: I've got a lovely new guitar, that arrived on Wednesday this week. It's a singlecut Gordon Smith GS1.60 made to my specifiactions: I wanted it to have a thi...

I was flailing around for ages trying to find that link that Tim just posted; you don't need to go berserk and pay JMI prices - Mike of this parish does indeed make a very good Mk2 clone (I've got one), the Bajatech Bonebender Mk2 is meant to be lovely, and the BYOC version is meant to be cracking. ...

That's lovely Pat, although I've somehow missed your thread about picking up that thinline: that's just about my dream guitar. I know people always do this in your threads, and while I think it's rather unbecoming, i call ultimate dibs if you ever sell that tele. I'd sell all my guitars to have that...

I had one and loved it - one of the best Behringers, I think. I've heard of people ditching their Verbzillas for these.

Nice score - as James has said, that's a nice price for a GS from a shop: I've just got one myself this week (although have neglected to make much of a thread about it yet, since I'm far too busy playing it...). The serial number might well make it pretty early - mine was finished last week, and the...

If it's a screw-in arm (a lot of them are on the CPs), check and see if the hole goes all the way through the block/plate, or if it has a bottom. If there's a bottom, just drop in a biro spring dipped in vaseline and it'll hold the arm in place without having to resort to that ugly fucking stay trem...

Possibly a n00b question, but is there a definitive (or even a good) VU biography? Uptight is the Bockris one, if I remember rightly?

Is that true? What's your source, as a mater of interest?

The Wikipedia page is surprisingly good. Essentially: v1= Maestro fuzz, v1.5=fuzzface, v2=the one to get, v3 etc. tone control added, some argue m@j@ lost (it isn't, by the way, but start off with a v2, that's the archetypal one...).

I'm a little pressed for time, so could you all just imagine that I've photoshopped out the iRig and replaced it with a massive, spunky biscuit.

I've had the Man and the Boy (tee-hee) - I found the boost on the DMM annoying, but thought the Boy was cracking, and they crop up secondhand for very reasonable prices. The Toys seemed to have a lot of quality control issues, and for the money, I think it's worth going the extra mile for the Boy. A...

Do an Burns and replace the middle pickup tone control with a push/pull pot that activates the bridge pickup. That way, you can retain the five way switch, but have bridge+neck and bridge+middle+neck too.
