They've been making Mustangs since 1964, I think. There were two other models with P90s besides the current ones, one was Chinese, the other American with a laminated wood top. There probably weren't that many of either one of those made. Say 1%? (actually considering some of the current Mustangs a...

Buffalo, NY's got some Chitlin Circuit Blues...

Hey, lads, just got the latest about Scott Frielich's band, JT Blues. Some of you know Scott's one of the world's premier vintage guitar experts, Master Luthier, and musician. Seems he sold his shop on Hertel Avenue just to chill and play Blues bass. Never had heard his JT Blues Band but then found ...

Yeah, these HH stangs are crazy-cheap and usable, and fine as your backup "second" guitar or if you're a beginner on a budget. That said, you'll want to swap the pots for 500k and give the fretboard a bit of lemon oil at the very least...the pickups aren't too bad, but as with most budget...

Many great guitarists prefer "lower output"

I'm with you on the tuners-the new ones looked out of place to me. Did you need to use conversion ferrules on the tuners? Only problem I can see from the photos it looks like a ring was impressed by the washer into the finish around the tuners now. . I did use them, if you notice the bushings are g...

NightHawk in EC, rare blue, great price

For those of you who know how to shop carefully on ebay...contact seller, ask lots of questions...here's a NightHawk in great condition in rare Pelham Blue. At this price ($650 USD), I'd grab this one instantly if I wasn't about to retire with a hard-to-justify-to-wife collection. http://www.ebay.co...

Toilet Handy

I recently saw an Ebay offer to sell W. C. Handy sheet music...the guy who began popularizing Blues right around the time upright pianos and Victrolas became affordable...the add was posted by a Spanish guy who is not so good at English: FOR SALE: Sheet music, tunes by Toilet Handy. In Europe W.C. m...

Final update on this one (well, for now, lol). The annoying trem was... annoying. So I hardtailed it using an allparts Danelectro bridge. I had to shim it by putting a hex nut and washer under each of the top mounting holes, and then tightening the trem spring all the way, but it works perfectly. A...

Quick update now the 500k pots are in: there's definitely an improvement with the treble. It sounds closer to how I'd imagine a two-humbucker guitar is supposed to sound. I fitted a 0.033 orange drop cap while I was in there. So yeah. Insert flowery *amber* terminology for "it sounds brighter ...

Fender Mustang and John Lee's Groundhogs

May I take ya back to the music of the original Mustangs? The Groundhogs were one of the earliest White Blues bands starting out in 1963 in England. They backed the USAmerican Blues icons John Lee Hooker, Little Walter, and Sonny Boy Williamson II on the milestone UK Blues Tours of the 1960s that in...
