that is one ugly ass guitar.

of course, everyone loves it because it was made by Fender. just like all their other ugly ass guitars.

Even now, this new Metropolis-S is just 38 inches of nothing. Meh. http://www.hagstromguitars.de/typo3temp/fl_realurl_image/hsmetros15-51.png actually, i think that looks pretty interesting. it's not quite a Swede is it? something new altogether? i just didn't like their half-hearted attempt at rec...

ive always love the old haggy trems and mad switches, but I HATE the new hagstroms with the strat trems and boring strat pups and lame strat switches, lazy lazy lazy. yeah, no interest in those things at all (though i would like to try one just to compare). besides all the shortcuts on the hardware...

thanks everyone, i'm really enjoying these things and am lucky to have them. i updated the original post with descriptions of the last two. i just love the weight and feel of these things, they're almost perfect for me. i recently grabbed a cheap Squier Strat off Craigslist (never had a Strat before...

some Hagstroms...

earlier this year i started thinking about getting (somewhat) serious about learning to play guitar. i've wanted one for years, so i bought a Hagstrom III... then i bought some more. i really dig these things, i think they look great and i love the way they feel and play (though the micro frets and ...

thanks for the info on the Tele/Strat necks!

i remember a friend putting together this combination about 15+ years ago, but now that you mention it i do recall something being "not right" about it.

looks like my plans have changed a bit.

(dumb question not worth starting a thread for, and this seems almost appropriate...) in general, will a Strat neck fit on a Tele body with no problems? any combinations that won't work for sure? i love the look of the early 70s Tele Deluxe, but the pick guard makes me ill. might consider building s...

i'd have to admit that i've been a big Nirvana fan ever since 'Nevermind' hit, and i probably appreciate them as much now as ever. never really understood hero worship, whether it be Cobain or anyone else. actually, hero worship is totally fucked up and in general deserves its own thread. the way pe...

damn, that's nice. the Costello stain is quite a bit darker though, right?

how is the condition of the neck, was that redone at some point? (sounds like you think it may have originally had a painted headstock?) any idea what color it was originally?

man, that looks really classy. i'm not usually a fan of painted headstocks on Fender types, but i love how the gloss black on this one compliments the pickguard. the p'up covers and switch tip are a bit glaring, but still don't look bad at all.

nice!

http://wadeaminute.ca/blog/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/blkguardblksupson.jpg man, that looks really sharp. i'd probably go with a B/W/B guard to accent the shape of it, but it still looks great. love those pickups on it. EDIT: do you have an angle shot of it with that guard? ... Thanks. That's only ...

c.1970 Sears-Roebuck 319 "clone"?

i have a couple of old mij Sears-Roebuck (Silvertone?) electrics from the early 70s that i absolutely love the look of. unfortunately, it's got a plywood body which is just a bit too thin, and the neck is a bit more robust than i'd like (even after some sanding). for what it is, it actually doesn't ...
