Are you looking for more or less power? I've never done a pickup swap to get less power in my life.

These licks are fun! The simple fingering makes them easy to add to your playing.

Gorgeous. I miss my les paul. I loved it but I think the pickup were too hot for me (had a studio with the 490r/498t). Pretty sure my next "real" guitar will be a Les Paul. The classic series has caught my eye more than once. I'm normally a fan of plaintops but I love the flame and checki...

Thanks for the info WesTex. I'm sure you could agree, with Les Pauls, you need to find a guitar that speaks to you. I've played certain les pauls that just seem tonally dead while others seem to sort of "breathe" or just resonate in a very musical way. I know this guitar would be scoffed a...

Nice one. I had a 2003 LP Standard with Burstbuckers. The most amazing guitar, really. I totally understand how you get lost while playing it. Just a shame LPs are so damn heavy. This one is only about 4kgs! I know the mahogany is weight relieved...but i don't mind at all. It's from 2004. It had mi...

Gibson LP Classic - Beautiful Flame

So i splurged this month and bought myself a proper electric guitar. It's woefully under appreciated and unvalued in Japan. It's the most beautiful flame i've ever seen on a guitar at this price. It's the kind of instrument i can get lost in playing for hours. A keeper for sure! I'm considering drop...

I bought one back in the day when it was considered the crappier less desired version of the NYC big muff. Look at it now! MUHAHAA

Enjoy your min/maj7 chords.

I have no doubt that a les paul with vintage parts would sound good. But i doubt anyone could pass a blindfold test of a reissue vs an original. I think newer les pauls
sound plenty good enough.

I'd never listened to clips of Blackouts of even read reviews, but I'd always assumed they were EMG clones effectively. What do you think of them? It's hard to really tell because I'm currently playing it through a line 6 spider amp with the volume on 2. The average studio around here is marshall j...

Here's the vibe I'm going for unplugged

Don't knock it because it's pop. Listen for the tasteful, yet frustratingly complex chord substitutions and fills. Plus it's Korean, so it's automatically awesome.

Archtops?

Here

Pretty cheap at $300, but the only problem is no pickup. I could buy a floating one somewhere down the line if need be, but i imagine it's awkward playing with a drop in floating pickup.
Worth it?
