It seems to have a "poor man's MS20" vibe attached to it slightly, because, well it's basically a single oscillator version of it- except there's a bit more to it than that. I find the MS20 pretty complicated, the patchbay is a fucking mystery sometimes and it can also sound a bit one dime...

Nah, I just turned the master pitch knob fractionally right and left it at that.

Good blank canvas, loud and clean. I picked one up for Stewart some years ago, I think he had to do some maintenance on it though eventually. I dunno, considering how affordable newer Amps are these days I'm not sure if there is much point in buying stuff like this. Unless it's for a specific image...

all options are valid in this area, that's one of the reasons it's fun.

Can you name any reliable program/app? ableton live lite is free and you can install any compatible plugin, plus it already has loads of synth patches with limited controls built in. as chris says ^, big synth companies like moog and korg are making app versions of their classic synths for ipad and...

it's such a vast field now that without some specific pointers it's hard to advise. do you want to learn how synthesis works? hands-on is by far the best, get a cheap monosynth (arturia microbrute or something) and play around with it. even if you don't know what a vca or hpf is you can see how chan...

they used to be fairly affordable 10 years ago. i haven't looked recently, but i imagine they cost a bomb now like everything else.

i'd def go for the OR15 over the terror, the EQ section would be enough to swing it. PPC112s are great as well, they sound really nice and are light as hell.

i think given your requirements the minilogue would probably do the job. if you're looking to get a bit more involved and 'future proofed' (you never know, you might get the bug and decide to get more into keyboards) your friend's nord sounds like a good deal (they're amazing synths).

i don't mind no midi if it has useable sounds, but PSRs like that tend not to have any.

i found a PSR in the bin on my street a while back, can't remember the model number though (currently out at my parents' house in the garage). cleaned it up, it works fine. it doesn't have midi though, so is zero use to me.
