Obviously it depends on your preference, what you play blah blah etc etc From my experiences I would recommend D'Addario. I "toured" with a couple of bands for a few years playing a Musicmaster Bass and these strings: http://www.stringsdirect.co.uk/images/daddario-exl170s-nickel-wound-45-1...

Thom wrote:GreenKnee, the dual amp setup with a Twin is clearly a great idea - do it!!
Imagine how huge that would sound... leaving the Orange to handle the dirt/fuzz and the Twin underneath for clarity and modulation fx.

Very nice! After playing a friend's Rockerverb I've fallen in love with the meaty Orange sound. Trying to convince myself a dual-amp rig with a Twin Reverb would somehow be necessary, but I'm not sure my ear drums are agreeing with me

I think I'm leaning towards the first set too, more chrome is more better I reckon. I wouldn't have normally gone the modding route to such a nice guitar, but I'm quite attached to it and I've already modded it, albeit not quite as invasively as what's planned. I've had it since new, it's about 2 ye...

Aesthetic Advice - A Fender Jaguar Project

Good evening s-scalers. I have sent my American Original Jaguar away for some modification. Since getting my 1962 Jaguar, the AO has become somewhat surplus as it does the same thing as the '62 just not as well. To mix things up, I'm having the stock pickups replaced with Firebird/Mini HB sized 'gol...

Very cool! I find songwriting with bass easier also, I find it easier to hear what can layer on top of it, rather than blasting a huge riff and then struggle with what can come around it.

You inspired me to get my bass out for the first time in aaaaagess, and a song comes straight away, whodathunkit

1962 Fender Jaguar Bought this earlier this year as a 30th birthday gift to myself. After having a refret, and some sanding down to the shrunken pick guard to allow the pickups to be adjusted, it is now my best playing and sounding guitar by far. It's a refin, but other than that everything is orig...

One of my favorite albums of all time.
Yes.

Been on the lookout for a decent copy of it for a few weeks now.
I'm not sure where the Mrs got it, but it's the Music on Vinyl label's reissue. I gave it another blast this afternoon

Good choice of album to display it with. I only got into Jaco this Spring, a live show of his was on Sky Arts as I was flicking through and I was blown away. Then begun the diving into Wikipedia and all other Jaco videos, including the fantastic documentary about him. My better half bought me the a...

Sounds are all nice nice nice! That Jag is so sublime looking too, did Aen use to have it, or has it always been yours? I'm sure it's been on my radar for years and years. Totally agree with the different strokes statement, I bought the Thomastik expecting to prefer them, but was surprised that the ...

I've been using flatwounds on all 3 of my Jags since starting this thread. I have the Thomastik on an American Original, and Chromes on a 1962 and a CIJ. Interestingly, I prefer the Chromes. They feel smoother under my fingers, and sound better with my setup (to my ears of course). With the Thomasti...

Thicker gauge strings help 100%. I've got a Jaguar tuned to C standard and I have to use 12s for a decent tension. I imagine with a thicker gauge the guitar should intonate just fine
