Re: Music stang!

I thought I'd already commented in this thread. This looks brilliant. A hot and tapped P-90 would be great here. Full coil for something pushing a humbucker, tapped coil for vintage toanz. This would be a far better addition to the Grandad's Secrets series or whatever bullshit Fender call their weir...

Those Harley Bentons are good. I wonder what the factory is? and why someone hasn't loudly started distributing them in USA.

I've been having a play with Izotope's Ozone this evening and have so far mostly reinforced my belief that I'm pretty fucking terrible at getting things to sound good.

Re: Shady Sustainer

Is there any way of tweaking it? Does string height do anything? Is there a trim pot on the amplifier part or anything?

Re: Shady Sustainer

I watched demos earlier and some seemed pretty good, but they were all cheesey metal tones.

What's the problem?

It would. But it would also mean sacrificing the neck P-90.

Re: Shady Sustainer

Oooh, I'm interested in this. A wee while ago, I got the stuff I needed to make my own sustainer. It was pickup wire of a thicker gauge (dunno about electronics, this was preferred because of something to do with inductance vs resistance maybe...., can't remember, didn't really understand at the tim...

Were there not a load of mojo mods in the 00s designed to deal with splatty decay on the BD-2?

Re: Always on pedals, a popular option?

Proper love my MG10, stupidly good for such a cheap basic amp. More and more lately, I've been coming the conclusion that the best I sound is when I have two minutes to quickly set up whatever really shitty 5w amp I can put my hand on, work out which of the school guitars are least broken and most ...

Re: Always on pedals, a popular option?

When I was gigging regularly, I usually used a Roland Cube or whatever else clean I could get my hands on, but I would never play clean. All my overdrive sounds would come from my board, which (from memory) was MBM Saltbooster>MBM OCD/DLS clone>Dano Timmy clone>MBM Klon. I might have had the Dano Pe...

It looks like it would be a lot of fun. Minimalist electronic always slightly bug me though. I'd love to see a second volume.

I suppose at a certain point it becomes another funny shaped epiphone though.

This sounds like the purgatory we go to when dots hasn't put money in the shortscale meter and we have to look elsewhere for our weird Fender forum hit.

Re: How hard is it to paint a guitar with poly?

It would look class with a matching headstock. But it looks pretty class already. I reckon the best way to a good finish here is to leave it be.

Re: How hard is it to paint a guitar with poly?

Hurb did videos, but I'm pretty sure he was using nitro, which I understand is easier because it's softer and the layers dissolve back into each other, so it's easier to get a smooth/flat finish. I reckon that if you take your time with it, you'll be able to get a passable job. It's just a headstock...

Re: Pedalboard modellers: Whats your pick?

I'm sort of confused why you're asking about this whilst selling the Helix LT in the Classifieds. Am I missing something about what the Helix LT does? I assumed the Stomp was the same thing, minus the amps modellers?

Re: Pedalboard modellers: Whats your pick?

I have an M13 and an M5 which I've been tempted to put in the loop (M17?) of the M13. It would be good if there was a way of using the MIDI connects to synch tap tempo across them. Maybe there is, I dunno. MIDI is some weird black magic. Also been meaning to pick up the Zoom CDR70 for the last aaage...

Re: Pedalboard modellers: Whats your pick?

I realize I'm a few years behind here, but I really enjoyed the Line 6 M13. It's all their original FX modeling pedals in one, with a slightly better looper. No amp modeling though. This is where I'm at, blissfully ten years behind the curve, getting what feels like (to me) cutting edge technology ...
