Re: I bought a Microkorg, trying to work it into music...

I wanted to go for just a straight up organ sounding sort of thing, what other sorts of stuff have people been using these for? Mostly a strange sort of meditation where I sit in bed with headphones plugged into it, going through the presets and making them into usable sounds. Then I wrtie down the...

I bought a Microkorg, trying to work it into music...

I recently picked this up for pretty cheap. I've never really played keys before, but with the internet and a few tutorials, anything is possible, right? It's a little weird making music where the guitar isn't the driving force behind it. I'm pretty pleased with this as a first attempt though. I wan...

Clips with guitar:

I figured out that the best way to demonstrate this amp would be to use it as a clean pedal platform, seeing as there's no actual overdrive in the amp without using a Toneprint.

TC electronic BH250 Demo and Review

I recently got a gig playing bass in a three piece band here in Brisbane. I needed a practical amp for gigging and after trying a couple out in my local music store, I eventually bought this. Sounds great with guitar too, I'll have a couple clips for that up in a week or so. [youtube]http://www.yout...

MI Audio Super Crunch Box Demo and Review

You like Marshall from the 60s?
You like Marshall from the 80s?

The Super Crunch Box is pretty good for both.

Did you like the stock Wilkinson P90s?
They weren't bad, but they definitely weren't great. They were overly hot and the pair I had were really hummy.

The Goldfoils are much lower output and much, much quieter.

Flogging sweet tones on a budget

I've reviewed an awful lot of boutique stuff lately. I figured I'd try see what I could conjure up with some cheaper stuff so I don't spoil myself with more $200-$300 overdrive pedals and the sort. All the guitar tracks were recorded from my Roland Cube 40XL that I've actually been using as a vocal ...

You take a Fender-y amp.
Sprinkle some Catalinbread.
Keep it your dirty little secret.

Another budget option is the Dr J Aerolite.
I'm not a super huge fan of compressors that don't have blend knobs. I think it's really useful parameter to have control of.

Re: Best electric guitar amps under $500 USD?

My brother wants an amp for his Les Paul. He plays 1960s Blues-Folk-Rock like Crosby, Stills & Nash; Neal Young; Jesse Colin Young. He plays mainly at home and sometimes jams with friends. No gigs. What do you recommend for under $500 USD? I always give the same recommendation for amps around t...

EHX Bad Stone Phaser

I bought this to replace my Hardwire phaser that broke.
So far I'm pretty impressed, I get to use a few weirder sounds in this new project I'm working on with a few other people. It's nice to have a little bit of swoosh.

Crazy amounts of gain! I guess a lot of that is the pedal's volume smacking the front-end of the amp? I do generally run my Fullerton very close to the edge of breakup for demos. I think that having control of the bias can really allow you to squeeze all the gain out of the circuit, which is pretty...

It should be. I bought mine from Prymaxe a couple of weeks ago.

Malekko Spring Chicken to make splash happen

I got this because I missed the reverb in my Hiwatt when I don't take it to gigs.

It definitely makes reverb a thing.

It also has a bird on it.

His name is Colin.
