for cheaps I recommend the Marshall Ed the Compressor. I imagine it is cheaper than the MXR in America. For mediumish price. Xotic SP Compressor - simple, great sounding and very small For more money I would look at a Pigtronix Philosopher King - Endless sustain and funky swells and all kinds of thi...

I've got an AVRI tort, which is pretty dark and sexy. Is that bottom picture an AVRI tort on a CIJ JM? Ima have a go at fitting it later. I've read conflicting reports of whether or not it'll fit. a few of the screw holes dont line up correctly. But you can pilot hole and fit new screws. Its all hi...

well jel. not many of those kicking about. The colour is the exact same as the OTM Jag I used to have. Lurvely. Cheers kidz, I'm pretty happy with the price I got it for (£450 delivered). Seems like a good deal nowadays for a rare colour plus matching headstock. This needs a tort guard, yes? Pleas...

Anyone have experiences with the Warmoth Modified Mustang Bridge? http://www.warmoth.com/Modified-Mustang-Bridge-Chrome-P616.aspx I have one on my CIJ Jazzy. I dont see the point personally as the radius on a mustang bridge is already set. Not to mention it just brings back the issues of little scr...

I hear the Masturby bridge is the way to go. Try it before you knock it. To the OP, the VM bridges really let the guitar down, get a Staytrem, Mustang or Mastery bridge for it - Staytrem is the best bang for buck, Mastery is a bit spendy for a Squier, and the Mustang bridge just isn't as good. You ...

Re: Fender Modern Player Starcaster or Epiphone Dot?

I want a semi hollow guitar and want to make sure I don't get something junky, but also am on a budget. What are opinions on either a Modern Player Starblaster or an Epiphone Dot? In the UK there is a big price gap between the too. I really disliked the dot, it was just meh. I owned a starcaster, i...

Re: Quick CIJ Jag Question...

There's a local gumtree ad for a '94 CIJ Sunburst Jag. It's up for £300, which feels like a good price if it's in decent nick. Am I right? Tempted to give it a whirl on the basis I could sell it on if we don't bond... Ta. :) Thats cheap as chips mate. Worth a punt. You should at least make £50 on...

A Sheraton or similar will get you close. That one with the mini humbuckers and compensated tailpiece looks great. However, please consider listening to a less shit band. Oasis and their ilk put me off guitar music for years and Liam Gallagher is a grade A cunt. You cant really say they are shit th...

I reckon if these would come in at the £700 mark, then that'd probably be a pretty fair price. The made in Mexico stuff is pretty ace, and having nitro is nice if you want the guitar to age like an old one. However, I reckon these will retail for around a grand, which is a bit too much in my opini...

i think the break angle caused by the trem does affect tone is as much as a sharper angle increases sustain and bottom end, and helps keep strings from popping due to less compliance. probably marginal compared with the move from a hearty TOM to the floating style bridge though. that change will de...

I know Novak makes JM pickups for a Jag that require no routing, I am not sure how much they would cost though I personally feel that the 24" scale is what gives the Jag most of its tonal character. I have 5 Jags all with different pickups in them and they all have that under pinning Jag spank ...

I personally would go talk to Marc at mojo pickups.

I also find the vintage JM bridge pickup as weak as watered down fosters.
I would go for something overwound. It doesn't make it lairy, it makes it a lot fuller like the neck pickup.

£80 - £90 for a custom set off of mojo I think.

If I use my jag with mojos in it (62 spec I think they are off the top of my head) It sounds glorious clean but it doesn't have the meatyness of my CP Jag singles when handling a lot of gain from my amp or pedals. They almost have a tipping point where just wont go beyond and the sound remains very...

SJAG-3s are a little TOO hot IMO...always felt they just don't fit a Jaguar very well. Pronounced midrange like a P90, but also really bass-heavy, sort of lacking the chime and clarity Jags usually have. The SJAG-2s are nice though. I have AVRIs in my Jag right now, and to me they sound like they w...

Lower-output pickups should be able to handle a touch more pedal/amp gain before the sound becomes an unintelligible mess than peaky overwound stuff (though this depends greatly on the pedals and amps obviously), but if you're going specifically for high gain w/singles out the gate the quarter poun...
