Pretty in black - Peavey T-15

I decided to give my $70 Peavey T-15 a quick update today using the spray paint from my amp grille cleanup and a pair of 375 watt bulbs to speed up the drying. The pickups don't match exactly, but I think spraying the pickguard definitely helped bring the guitar up to date. All I need now are to rep...

Another update... no pics yet, because I had to leave the amp behind due to lack of space in my car.

I've decided to make a new cabinet for it completely out of plywood, leave it natural, getting some rad light-colored fabric, spraying the Marshall Logo black, and putting it back together.

ugh... so the particle board soaked up a bit too much of the paint, and it wouldn't fit. I tried tapping it into place by hand and ended up breaking it. Particle board + caribbean climate = not a good mix So I mounted the speaker backwards to hold it in place, since I travel tomorrow, and I'll fix i...

Nothing killed the stain, so I sprayed it with black acrylic and it looks good now. I'll post pics once it dries.

However, robroe inspired me, so I'm gonna go to the fabric store tonight.

It didn't work :( That stain is in there.

I think I'm gonna hit it with a quick coat of black spray paint and just paint over the stain.

My turn for a question on this thread.

What kind of paint do you use on the pickguard that'll hold up under heavy picking? I'm trying to update my old-ass Peavey T-15, and a black pickguard sounds like the perfect way to do it.

I know.

It scares me. I'd lock it up in a hardcase before going to bed. I'd be scared of it killing me in my sleep.

But seriously though, how's it sound? I'm curious how an acoustic with that shape sounds.

The only beer I spill goes down my throat  Honestly, I don't have a clue what was spilled on it. It had a Dec 2009 tag at the pawn shop when I bought it, and there's no discernable smell on the stain (yes, i smelled it). So it's been there a while, and it might have happened at the pawn sho...

Cleaning stain from amp grill

So, today I hit up a few local pawn shops, and came home with a bedroom amp, a Marshall VS30R ($30!!) It works fine and sounds pretty decent, but it could use some TLC (cleanup, replacing of all the screws that are rusted, and 2 knobs). Anyway, there's a huge stain on the grille... any suggestions o...

Re: First guitar/project of 2012 - which one?

#1- Mid 90's MIK Ric 325 Copy (Richman Custom brand, made by Cort), $185 used. I've always wanted a Ric for the look, but I'm not a big fan of the sound... and with how much a Ric costs, I'd feel terrible doing any mods to it. If it's the one with three toasters and a hofnerish headstock I may have...

First guitar/project of 2012 - which one?

Once I finish my Musicmaster and get my Supersonic back, I want to start another project. Here are the options in my mind right now: #1- Mid 90's MIK Ric 325 Copy (Richman Custom brand, made by Cort), $185 used. I've always wanted a Ric for the look, but I'm not a big fan of the sound... and with ho...

An update... right now I'm on vacation sans instrument, but when I return, I'm going to place a drop of solder at the ends of the saddles to try and straighten them out, and install new saddle height adjustment screws to replace the ones it has. I still have the compensated saddles on the way, and I...

Shit that's pretty. Nice score. Thanks! Puerto Rico has a pretty schizophrenic used guitar market, and if you know how to work it, you can get some amazing deals (and if you don't, you'll get completely ripped off). I know of a few guys who make decent money buying used instruments locally at good ...

You tried all the adjustments? Not yet, the guy I take my guitars to is finishing up a guitar I bought in November (silver Squier Super Sonic, which the previous owner modded to hell and back... poorly, and I'm trying to restore it to playability). I've messed a bit with it, but the problem with th...
