I've never heard a clean boost which didn't sound the same as a LPB or Micro Amp. Both of which I love.

I also LOVE my SHO clone but I agree it's not a "clean" boost and yeah fuck that shape!

If you're working on writing stuff best advice is to listen to all sorts. You like the vaccines and the strokes. Find out what they liked and check that out. Then work that back. It's just a case of being open to influences and by doing that you'll pick up new bits and pieces on guitar as a byproduc...

Orange micro terror any good? Just run the head into headphones?

Oooh actually forgot, whilst it's a great amp the headphone sound is utterly disgraceful so probably no good

Pretty sure I got the one that you linked to George! Tbh it'll be something I must've done coz now it's working fine. I just haven't got the bright switch but I can live without that anyways. At home it's a bit muddy but live I'll only be taking the edge off the volume. I'm gonna be test driving it ...

So, it's been an eventful evening! I knocked up the version shown in the thread but I had issues getting the caps so I just (in my own logic) took that out of the schem and did the rest. It didn't work. It effected the volume but didn't make the amp drive. Whilst I was fiddling I got an enormous ele...

So now I'm confused. Which way round should the lpad be. I didn't notice initially that it's numbered "backwards"

I would've had the lugs facing me (ie backwards) and numbered them 1 2 3. So are the numbers right or the physical/visual order of the connections?

Yeah George it does. I was just trying to figure it out then by acting it out in my head but yeah clockwise ADDS attenuation, lowering the sound.

Aaaah ok so as the lugs in the diagram are numbered 321 those are the right connections to make but wire em kinda like a mirror image?

Oh well. I really liked the idea of that bright switch and your layout was in a suitable idiot proof way of me understanding how to knock it together. I guess I'll just copy the basic one that I have here.

Thanks for reporting back though!

Oh yeah I completely agree with what youre saying. It's more of a "wouldn't it be cool if...?" Kinda thing as opposed to "I HAVE to have an original enclosure" Where did you manage to find this one? It looks a good size as well, not too big. If not I'll have a trek over to maplin...

does this schematic look good to go with the 3 way switch? i added the red. this should cover 3 levels of brightness. can i swap the neutral and 4.7uf cap so it goes in order of brightness from bottom to top? http://bestnetworx.com/uploader/files/443/attenuator.jpg So just to clarify. Is this schem...

Looking for a Dallas rangemaster style enclosure HELP?

Title says it all. I'm trying to source an old school type Dallas rangemaster enclosure to build an LPad attenuator into. So it can sit on top of my amp and look the vintage dogs bollocks. I've recently seen a few clones built into some custom made enclosures to look like the real thing so if anyone...

Thanks. Some recommended to over egg the wattage rating as much as poss. My amp is 20watts and the LPad I'm currently using is 100W. I'm guessing it just means it's not feeling the strain as much??? Thanks again though and keep me updated. LOVE your idea of the bypass switch!

Youtubing issue. Halp please

I'm using ableton to track one mic at the cab and my iPhone for video and a bit of speech. iMovie to combine them. I separate the video from its audio and mute that leaving any speech and then use the cab mic for audio. All seems ok? The longer the video goes on the more out of time my cab audio get...

if you're gonna build one id definitely recommend the mod you can do to make sure it doesn't cut your top end. i really don't have much of a clue but i think it involves a capacitor! 8) I've not noticed THAT much but it definitely chops a bit at extreme attenuation levels. the difference between bli...
