Re: And another: derelict MIJ Mustang
Well, I got kind of reamed on the shipping (their promo applied to every service except UPS which was the only one which would take the larger box of this and a couple other things), but I'm hoping this is now a week or two away ...

Re: Strat wiring question
When you say “all” does that include taps and isolated single coils? *Either* of the coils in each pickup?
I suspect you may end up with more wire in the circuit than in the pickups themselves.

Re: And another: derelict MIJ Mustang
I bought a “highly experienced” Tele a couple of years ago (was Sonic Blue, now Marlboro Gold) and that set me in the path of righteousness. Maybe this one will be a disaster tho.

And another: derelict MIJ Mustang (NOW WITH EXTRA Squier Vista MM Bass)
I suppose there are a few shortscalers familiar with the Old Friends dogs home where they take hideous, stinky old dogs, give them a makeover and find new homes for them. I've realised this is my aesthetic for guitar collecting: not the pristine time capsules, but guitars who've lived so hard they a...

Re: WTF Esquire shortbass
Alas I brought a crappy head cold home from the trip with me as well, but the bass survived its trip disassembled in a terrible old suitcase. Gotta get it back together and see what's what.
It came strung with some very old flatwounds which I'm pretty happy about!

Re: WTF Esquire shortbass
Yeah, it’s like the solid body guitars were covered by the oddball Teisco / Guyatone / Arai models, but then the Gibson styles were cloned, and the Fender styles followed. I’ve never had a Gibson style bass and I’m loving it so far. When I get home I will be sorting out the electronics etc, looking ...

WTF Esquire shortbass
Visiting my brother interstate, flew in with carryon only, return ticket includes a suitcase. Let’s have a quick look at Gumtree. Half a day later I have this 70s beauty, for about $A100 or fifty quid. Short scale, bolt neck, early 1970s, same as the Ibanez EB3s of the period (and same factory). Nee...

Aw, thanks. I am trying to keep a lid on it (and need to sell a few) but sometimes I just can’t resist.

Sweet, now you just have to practice writing “A Y” on the bobbin and you’ll make a million.

Re: NBD: Oh god what did I do?
Welcome back to 2014, no pandemic, when my favourite record was HTRK's Psychic 9-5 Club , favourite film was Under the Skin and a bunch of weird stuff was happening in my life. This bass has been waiting its turn. Thru Offset I recently found this absolutely badass NB-4 which I prefer to the red tra...

Re: NEU! 96 MIM Duo-Sonic
I seem to recall these are conversion necks? (i.e. that a standard Strat neck would suit the location of the bridge). Maybe that's the way to go. It sounds good and the feel and quality of the body is really nice, I guess 24" is as short as I can go. I was always curious about these and now I k...
