A colleague gave me thirty apples one day and I carried them home in an empty amp case as I could not find a sturdy enough bag.

Re: Squier VM Jaguar top load bridge any good?
Thanks! The two screws in the picture you posted need threaded metal inserts in the wood to screw into, similar to a TOM tailpiece. The third screw, not pictured, which anchors the back of the bridge, screws directly into the wood. So it is sort-of gibsony danelectro technology! Amazing how Fender c...

…and more. It’s yellowed a lot since the paint job a few years ago. Has not been outdoors during winter, that would cause a spider-web lacquer disaster.

Re: Squier VM Jaguar top load bridge any good?
That could definitely be an issue. Gone are the days when I ebayed a Champ from Houston for $200 and it arrived here with cardboard taped on the grillcloth and back, the posting slip glued on the top, in a week. It was not in a box, the handle was visible. Customs emailed payment details, which wer...

Re: Squier VM Jaguar top load bridge any good?
This? http://www.shortscale.org/viewtopic.php?t=70048 Yes. Looks really great, but might not be worth the paperwork and cost to send it here (Finland). If I understand correctly, you are in the US? It would add up to Bridge $30+Shipping ~$20= $50 x 1,26 vat + 6% customs fee, which would equal aroun...

Squier VM Jaguar top load bridge any good?
Saw this for sale in Finland, asking €22 shipped.
Is it any good for a musicmaster project or should i look elsewhere? Missed out on the wonderful bridge plate project elsewhere on the forum.
-edit-
Somehow it has a Danelectro-of-Asia vibe. Strange.

Re: Best inexpensive sustain pedals?
Marshall ed-1 compressor is better than most cheapos if you need a bit more than a Ross-style comp. Can easily be set to ”increase sustain” without sounding like a oldie compressor pedal, has a sort-of presence boosting knob that helps. Boss CP-1X behaves a wee bit like a studio multiband comp, and ...

-71 Musicmaster. Has been refinished several times, now back to it’s original fast yellowing white. the original finish was underneath, or you refinished to that color? would love to see more shots of this -- looks awesome. Thanks. All finishing was stripped chemically when I got it, luckily that w...

Re: pictures of your shortscales
~1962 Silvertone 1448. Pickup, bridge, tuners replaced. Knobs were missing too, but pots and wiring seems original. Pickup is very low output and sounds close to originals. Bridge is allparts, similar to original. Tuners are $4.99 kluson copies from ebay, flimsy but do the job. Also have the amp-in-...

Re: Please help define Americana?
Maybe it's like pop; defined by motive. Same shit can be art or pop, depending on if the creator wanted it to mainly communicate or to sell loads. Americana could be reflective of an intent to define or describe american history, arts or ideals in songs, or to tell stories with sounds that are famil...

Re: Beautiful real road wear blonde bench
Originally I meant real road wear as a touch of self irony, as a childish fan of worn paint, but there was a photo of the museum moving in the last 20s with the stuff on trucks. Stuff being stuffed giraffes, benches and such. Maybe it is REAL.

Beautiful real road wear blonde bench
A wooden old bench at the Helsinki museum of natural history, next to the coat room. Great wear.
Is it weird to think about guitars and relic jobs sitting on random benches?

Re: Fender woody - style mini amp
I'm pretty impressed with the woodworking. It's become my latest obsession. You did a good job here. Thanks, I really appreciate your kind words. Woodworking projects for me are something that I tend to start with excitement, yet panic about what I’ve thrown myself into, and then just try to surviv...

Re: Fender woody - style mini amp
Like a dork I forgot this thread😬. It sounds ok. It is very quiet, but goes crazy at max volume, feedbacks and stuff. I changed the chips to milder specced ones (forgot what they were, its been years) and I think it must be way under one watts of output. Would perhaps choose the Uraltone mini amp ki...
