Re: NGD! Yamaha SGB-500, Cherry Red
I found a pair of Fishman Open Core Humbuckers in all black near my work for 170, apparently fresh. I know there is a V1 and V2 different between them so I'll have to do a bit of a check when I get them because the single coil sound does sound better than just getting a high cut feature. 170 bucks i...

Re: NGD! Yamaha SGB-500, Cherry Red
Also I want to put Zebra open coils into this? I think that would look fucking rad? I also can't tell if it would be an abomination... I'm trying to search the net for some inspiration... Also also, I think maybe those covered black buckers with the exposed pole pieces might also look good? I'm supe...

Re: NGD! Yamaha SGB-500, Cherry Red
It might just be broken tbth, it sounds like it's got a massive cap over it, think: Jimi's Red House bass part, which was played on an old semi-hollow with the tone rolled all the way off. It's very dark and not really in a pleasant way. The bridge pickup is ok. It does PAF things but it doesn't evo...

Re: NGD! Yamaha SGB-500, Cherry Red
So I dropped the action on it by many millimeters, it was super duper high and nasty to play. Now, with a fresh set on and a bit more set up it's a bit more revealing, I think I can probably get it down a lot further but I think I'll also keep it as it is for the next few weeks then take it somewher...

Re: NGD! Yamaha SGB-500, Cherry Red
I don't like the neck position it's way too dark but the bridge position is nice and the neck is nice and the build quality is good. It's a big mahogany boi and, you guessed it, sounds a lot like an SG crossed with a Les Paul. There are some sharp edges on the fret board and the action was stupid wh...

NGD! Yamaha SGB-500, Cherry Red
Ok ok, I admit, the Pedals Forum has been a bit of the Rhys show recently, andddd I might've spent like 700-800 dollars on gear recently, annnddd this guitar is another 500 bucks. But it _is_ 500 bucks. http://offerup.com/item/detail/4384dbcd-ca4d-3ebe-8bfd-41443e7a0048 Been looking out for one of t...

Re: Marshall Pedal Reissues
These pedals are extremely well thought of. The Shredmaster is on the first few Radiohead records on Johnny's board (it's the Creep duggadugga prechorus sound), the Guv'nor is on a few notable blues albums IIRC Gary Moore and Pat Travers, who I rate highly, ran it. Of course the Bluesbreaker is pret...

Re: New Pedalboard lfg
I lost my Big Muff. I had a really cool Big Muff that I bought off Benecol back in London that I treasured and it came all the way to LA with me and I can't find it :(. Even worse my Saltshaker + DLS Rhysdriver is missing too and I don't know how that could be. They were both my two favourite drive ...

Re: Moskyaudio Golden Horse: Cheap Mini Klon Centaur
Ok the small pedals kick the Uberschall's ass. B-Box is better in every way, the bass control fucking rules. Not even joking this 35 buck pedal kicks the Uberschall's sweet ass and I've seen pedal people say that it's one of the best distortion's you can buy? In a blind test the BB shits on it both ...

Re: Moskyaudio Golden Horse: Cheap Mini Klon Centaur
So I started making a mini-pedal pedalboard and this is where I got to this evening. So far the Golden Horse is the last in the pack, it's not shit but it's not as useful as everything else. Enjoyment order as follows: 1) Yellow Comp 2) B-Box Preamp 3) Silver Horse 4) Flamma Delay 5) Golden Horse Fo...

Re: Moskyaudio Golden Horse: Cheap Mini Klon Centaur
So I got the Silver Horse and its late here so I don't wanna have things up too loud. Verdict: the Silver Horse sounds completely different. The hard clipping setting is a bit like the Golden Horse but worse, and the "soft" mode is a super clean boost which is very pleasant. Pretty glad I ...

Re: Moskyaudio Golden Horse: Cheap Mini Klon Centaur
NGL I'm a little bit crazy for these mini pedals right now guys. There's also a Fulltone OCD, Xotic BB Preamp and others (??) and a RAT clone. Make a pedalboard that will easily fit into your guitar bag but still have a compressor, two OD/distos, a verb and some modulation then a tuner... what a tim...

Re: Moskyaudio Golden Horse: Cheap Mini Klon Centaur
Honestly I think its fucking rad, it's rare in guitar life do you buy something and grin 100% of the way through playing it because it just feels like a screaming fucking deal. 30 bucks and it sounds excellent, as good as any low gain pedal I've owned and I've probably owned 30-40, a dozen or so at ...

Moskyaudio Golden Horse: Cheap Mini Klon Centaur
http://images.reverb.com/image/upload/s--YzMRcAQh--/f_auto,t_large/v1618138039/ojdccmleyv7bzsrozwih.jpg f So I bought it for a laugh because it genuinely costs less than a mid priced meal at a restaurant. Like go out for breakfast in LA by the time you pay tax and tip its like 30 bucks easy, with a...

Re: Compressors: What to buy, where in the chain?
Mooer Yellow comp Fender Bends Strymon Compadre ... I always run mine after tuner and wah but before everything else. Great suggestions, thank you. All of these were not on my radar. I am gonna buy the Mooer because it's cheap as chips and reviews really well, as you mentioned. I figure over the ne...
