Re: How hard is it to paint a guitar with poly?

It's beautiful, congrats! I have no idea how to paint a guitar. I think many years ago Euan wrote a short tutorial on how to do it. Matching the colour might be tricky I guess. Also they will be two different finishes and think they'll be aging differently. Even if you match the current colour they ...

Yeah, it looks complete. A really attractive guitar with many tasteful touches.

Re: Boss OS-2, anyone tried one?

It's a great pedal and is underrated, hence the low price.

Re: Guild Surfliner project...need advice

I had a Squier Bullet Strat with a "used" stamp on the neck and the serial number also gouged out that I had bought off ebay too. It was perfectly functional, though the body weighed a ton. You can probably check if the neck is finished at all by taking one of the tuners off and see around...

Re: Guild Surfliner project...need advice

Looks really nice, especially the guitar-amp combo! In my experience, what people tend to call unfinished neck on "budget guitars" is a regular, thick finish done with matte lacquer. It can sometimes reach like a couple of millimetres in thickness and people would still be calling them unf...

Yeah, had I changed anything, I would've thought I'd lost some magic settings. It's fascinating how our mind/brain/ears work

Re: '99 Stratocaster pickup query

Not really connected to this, but there was a batch of made in Korea Fender Strats at some time. I remember some Fender owners having a conniption because of it, after having spent a small fortune on a Fender there were Korean Fenders circling around. But those had a Made in Korea inscription on the...

Re: pictures of your gear here

Yesterday I pulled my solid state amp from its dusty corner and some dirt pedals, played them for a while and they sounded heavenly. I hadn't changed a thing, plugged in today and it all sounded like utter shit. Speaking of perception bias based on the mood.

Re: pictures of your guitars here

It's funny that at this point your guitar is just a tad younger than the model it was "an import rip off" of. I mean it's almost as vintage as 70s fenders, and it's probably better made. Nice guitar, strong Keith vibes.

Re: NBD - Squier Bronco Bass

The colour combo looks nice and I love pale Squier necks. I like this bridge and am not super crazy about mustang bridge on the bass. Moreover, the string through thing sounds like a lot of hassle with strings, aren't you supposed to use some special strings on that thing?

Re: Bullet Mustang Project (Project #2 added)

Squier Vista Musicmasters are Gibson, or rather Epiphone scale of 24.75".

Nice little Musicmaster you built there, it looks super classy.

Re: ...the original Skystang 1 coming up for auction

If I was a midsize local bureaucrat I'd probably buy it. Or my children would. One of those kids who lives alone in an empty building on Manhattan, which belongs to his family, and who has dual citizenship, will buy it in between playing War Zone and eating cereal.

I loved it with a pink pickguard and I love it with this tort. Both looks are fresh and sharp to me.

Those fret rulers with gaps for frets are good for setting up the neck straight.
