Looks a lot of fun.
There's something I don't like about the mismatched pickup covers, though. I think it wouldn't bother me if not for the knobs being matched to the neck pickup.
You could go cream and black for the knobs too.

Re: 2amp rigs with added bass
Was going to place this in the diary thread, but went here instead because I suppose it's sort of related Had a band practice last night where I didn't use my own amps (a lot of hassle with our new place) and instead used a DSL 40 combo and a 50w Vox Night Train through a Wharfedale 212. Sounded shi...

Recently saw this and nearly bought it, for when that rustic farmhouse look comes back around.

Re: Project: Player Jaguar in mahogany
It might be the angle of the photo shortening the vertical, but it nearly looks Jag-stangy there, in that it has that really pronounced hip that I always thought looked sort of feline and cool in the Jag-stang.
Looks excellent.

Re: Wireless guitar
Wonder what happens if you use a stereo signal and a stereo input...
I'd be surprised if it's actually transmitting stereo. Reckon it's stereo insofar as it as a TRS jack on it.

Re: 2amp rigs with added bass
I think Doog spent quite a while fettling something like this. I've always been tempted to try it, particularly given the amount of massive bass amp you can get for cheap second hand these days (I remember really lusting after Trace Elliot bass amps as a teenager because their combos were what was i...

Is it not just two really basic fuzz circuits smashed together? Might not be difficult to make one and paint it up as a Lizard Queef.

If I didn't already have a Burns Double Six, I'd be all over that LPB Jazzmaster XII. Can't really justify having more than one twelve string though. Re: Project: Player Jaguar in mahogany
One danger is that as I start doing it, my instinct to treat it like an oil painting and start doing weird shit with the pigment might kick in, and I'll end up with a bunch of abstract shit laid down. Haha, yep, definitely. I think you'd have to mentally separate in your head. You're not painting a...

Re: Project: Player Jaguar in mahogany
Yeah, I thought that method of getting the pigment onto the piece was (don't want to say technique because it wasn't really a technique...) was a bit strange. I was more thinking that if you have experience with oil paints, and (I assume) a decent amount of paints to work with, and a painter's eye a...

Re: Project: Player Jaguar in mahogany
Good luck with it. As you say, nothing will be all that permanent when doing an oil finish. And, even if it doesn't go brilliantly, it's still going to look pretty good. I don't know how easy it is to strip a stain out of wood, though. I imagine that it penetrates the grain rather than just sitting ...

On the body originally or on the oil finish? On the body originally, then yes (obviously, hence it not looking like whatever cheap wood the body was made from). http://www.wilko.com/en-uk/wilko-traditional-interior-wood-dye-dark-mahogany-250ml/p/0315776 On the oil finish on the neck (and the varnish...

Re: Guitar woods and tone
It's all bullshit.
You don't even need pickups. I took mine out and it sounds just as good (possibly better). Try it. This is a cheap mod that guitar companies hate.

Re: NGD Tomson Mustang copy
That's quite clever. The saddles are nuts with a grooved, circular outer, so can be placed at any spacing. Clever manufacturing, that. I doubt they would roll. I doubt the tangential force acting on the saddle's outer edge is enough to overcome the friction at the thread. I'd imagine the sum of the ...

Re: NGD Tomson Mustang copy
Also kind of love it.
I thought the headstock said "INDOOR SERIES" which excited me. Thoughts of some sort of "OUTDOOR SERIES," possibly involving gore-tex.

I know tru-oil isn't teak or tung, but I followed the advice in this thread: http://www.thegearpage.net/board/index.php?threads/how-do-you-get-a-high-gloss-from-tru-oil-finish.711780/ when I made this kit: http://www.shortscale.org/viewtopic.php?t=64337 The poster "Quarter" in the TGP thre...

Re: Project: Player Jaguar in mahogany
Oh no, they got it backwards etc.
Looks great. I'd be interested to see how the mahogany looks when finished too. I used tru-oil on a guitar a few years back and it darkened up nicely. Feels great, easy to use, looks great.
