if the impedance matches, I wouldn't see the harm in doing this. PA speakers are designed to cover a wider frequency range than guitar speakers which incidentally, includes the guitar's range. So eventhough it may not be optimal, it should still sound better than blasting a fart in a Radio-Shack mi...

Running a guitar head through PA speakers

I haven't got a guitar amp at the moment since one is at my drummer's house and the other is broken, so today I was playing guitar through my PA system. It actually sounded pretty good, and this got me thinking, would it be possible to put a guitar head (instead of my mixing desk) through the PA spe...

New pedals... http://www.majhost.com/gallery/freddyv-c/Guitars/photo-0010.jpg It's blurry, yeah. The new additions are an EHX Doctor Q and an Effector13 2ADD. The Doctor Q was something I'd been wanting for ages, but I bought the fuzz on impulse yesterday. I'd never heard of it before and I thought ...

I move plenty on stage, but running is what I do when I don't have a guitar strapped across my shoulder. Ah, now I understand. Before I thought you were just completely anti moving around at all. I agree with you that if you're moving enough to necessitate a wireless system, you're probably moving ...

I don't really see the problem with running/jumping around on stage... I wouldn't use a wireless system though because it seems a silly amount of money to spend when I can untangle leads quite easily.

is a 4 ohm head into a 16 ohm cab going to cause any problems with the amp or would it just be less power? I went and did some reading up on the interwebs, so brace yourselves for some intellectual speak. Unless I've horribly misinterpreted things, the cab can be greater than or equal to the head, ...

How about the internal speaker? Anything about ohms on there? Nothing that I can see... This cab I'm planning on getting is 16ohms, though, when it's in stereo. My little combo amp can't be outputting at more than 16, surely? I think I'll just get the cab and use this combo as a head until I can af...

The cleans were a wonder to behold though, I thought. If you know how to fix it, this certainly seems like a good buy. I'd be stunned if one of us couldn't get this going with 45 minutes and some solder. No doubt about it, someone (most people, probably) here could. Not me though; Freddy + solderin...

I played the combo version of this today and it sounds lovely! My only complaint would be that on the drive channel is far too harsh. For a light overdrive I had it at about 7 or 8 o clock, and once I got to about 12 o clock there was crazy crazy gain. Beyond that it just sounded silly. The cleans w...

So if your amp is 8ohm, get an 8 or 16 ohm speaker cab... not a 4ohm one. Also more ohms = more resistance so you want to try and match it or not be too far ahead with the cab, for efficiency... basically if the ohms are too high, you'll be running at less power. Didn't think about ohms... :\ Doesn...

1) I didn't think the valvetronix series was bad at all, since I got a tube amp my lead guitarist uses my ad30vt at practice and live!! Of course it depends entirely on the sound that you want to get out of it. 2) The cabinet is going to make a difference. Also, speakers are heavy... 3) There is a ...

Re: Noob Amp Question

See? Even the thread title is an apology. So I've finally sold my Vox Valvetronix abomination, after realising that everything sounded horribly digital through it. But of course, this means I have to buy another decent-sized amp for gigging with. I'm pretty sure I need to get a tube amp of some sor...

Prog, if you've still got that, and you're still wanting to sell it, I'm definitely interested. How much are you wanting for it?

I'm in a magazine!

My band have a live review in the most recent issue of a local magazine called 'Beep!'. I'm pretty pleased with it, although this reviewer seems to describe everything as math-rock (a few of my friends' bands have been bafflingly described as the same). Check it out! Lank. That's a link to our blog,...

That is a seriously sexy guitar.

The gold/blue burst was kind of meh, I prefer the plain blue.
