Re: Done bought a vox ac30

Yeah, the Rat is a special kind of pedal. I have played and built so many of them at this point, and one thing I always noticed: it either sounds like trash, or goddamn amazing. It depends on what amp you run it through. A good, clean tube amp is the best for them. I picked up an attenuator on a hol...

Maybe I'm a bit out of it, but that's a Musicmaster, friendo.

I'm pretty impressed with the woodworking. It's become my latest obsession. You did a good job here.

Re: The ultimate list of cheap copies of great pedals thread!

If it was from the same source, then its something else, just basic interference. This is probably being filtered out using these pedals, using signal-isolating transformers or something like that, which also solves some of the same issues that are caused by ground loops. I could post the simple sch...

Re: The ultimate list of cheap copies of great pedals thread!

Coincidentally the only venue I can think of here that has this problem is CBGB, and that's only for the PA as it's on a different circuit than the backline amps are on. So the mic shocks you a bit when you go to sing. I just put a foam pop filter on my mic and don't worry about it. The amps themsel...

Re: The ultimate list of cheap copies of great pedals thread!

The fuck is wrong with the electrical system in the UK? My dude Dave has been touring around the US and using the passive box I made him for somewhere around 6-7 years now and has never had this problem. His pedalboard has even gotten further complicated with 3 separate boards, for guitar, "bas...

Re: The ultimate list of cheap copies of great pedals thread!

I've had both, and the SubNUp has a lot 'woofier' an octave down; the POG by comparison is quite 'metallic' (in both octaves), and does a lot better - or punchier, at least - into distortion with the normal signal. I'd guess that the SubNUp would work great with less distortion, as a 100% octaved s...

Re: The ultimate list of cheap copies of great pedals thread!

The Tender Octave mk1 was an actual clone of the Micro POG; the firmware actually had EHX references still left in it haha Mooer got sued, and then released a mkii that isn't as good. All other cheaper octaver/pitchshifters suckkkkkk. Ah, I see. Well, at least it was cheap. I've been fine with the ...

Re: The ultimate list of cheap copies of great pedals thread!

electro-harmonix Pog 2/Micro Pog Mooer Pure Octave I referenced this list when I was looking for a bi-amp octave. I bought the Mooer. It was okay . As a pure bassist replacement, it sounded a bit off. It sounds like a bass through a chorus pedal. I picked up a TC Electronics Sub n Up (Mini?), and t...

Re: Project: Player Jaguar in mahogany

I love the Firebird style burst, looks great. As I said in the other thread it might be worth looking at okume for the body wood, it looks pretty much like mahogany, but is lighter at a more reasonable cost - light mahogany is out there but expensive. I will check into this, thanks for that tip! Al...

Re: Project: Player Jaguar in mahogany

This is going to be sweet- I wasn't going to start this thread until I ordered the neck, which I was waiting to do when the ORM sold, which still hasn't happened. I just figured why not, I ordered the white Duncan JB and it arrived today, so I'm now committed to making this build. it’s funny how bu...

Holy shit, that thing looks almost original now. If I hadn't seen the condition it was in before I would have just assumed this was a regular RG that you stuck some neon on.

That's quality finish work there, man.

Project: Player Jaguar in mahogany

A bit back I was gifted a lefty Mosrite body by our buddy here cooter. The catch on it, was that I needed to find a neck for it to finish it. I still have not found a neck that doesn't cost like $800. Through several days of searching, and weeks of emailing every neck-making luthier I could find, I ...

Re: Best inexpensive sustain pedals?

A friend of mine swears by the EHX Freeze, if actual hold-note-forever is what is meant by "sustain".

I didn't know Boss went and made another "feedbacker" pedal. That's...interesting.

All great info, thanks y'all. I don't wanna derail this thread, though. I was just curious.

I'll be making a separate thread soon enough in the Projects section once I get more bits ordered and in.

Re: NGD: Blue Fender Toronado GT

[quote It's definitely a heavier Fender guitar with that Mahogany body. Interesting, so it's the same thickness as a standard Fender, like a Strat? I have a project planned with a mahogany body as well, but I planned to make it thinner than usual to offset the weight difference. How much heavier, wo...

Re: NEW $150 Jazzmasters in all the colors.

I can't tell what bit of the body shape or pickguard they changed - but whatever it was it was something that made the Jazzmaster pretty and this very much unpretty. Grim. I was trying to put my finger on this as well, I think it's the slight variations on the pickguard, near the control area, and ...

Re: Best inexpensive sustain pedals?

There isn't really any such thing as a "sustain" pedal. There are things that are marketed as sustain pedals such as compressors or fuzz pedals. There was the Boss Feedbacker/Booster which I always thought was gimmicky and brilliant in equal measures. I have two of these. First Boss pedal...

Re: Best inexpensive sustain pedals?

I have no idea/opinion on the first two, but the Deadbeat is just a basic Big Muff clone, isn't it? EHX has put out like a ton of variants now on the BM, and it sounds like you really want the BM, so... I've been on a pedal spree lately, and between Reverb, ebay, and Craigslist I've gotten some stuf...
