Sweet. makes perfect sense. +1 thanks, mike. as far as i know, both straight cabs were stock, through & through. when the first one i played through sounded like that, i assumed it was a blown speaker or some mod to get it to sound that way. but after hearing the second one sound decidedly simi...

Agreed with doog, I think you just hear the tone better with a slanted case, they should have the same speakers and not sound diff when close mic'd. see, i thought so, too, but that totally didn't bear out when we were in the studio a couple weeks ago. it was way different tone. normally, i woulda ...

angled vs. straight

i've had opportunity to play through a straight jcm 900 1960 cab on several occasions. at each one, i was underwhelmed at the tone in comparison to my trust 1960A. it was my understanding, however, that the only difference was in that angle on the top face. is there something else i'm missing? cos t...

does cakewalk have anything close to all the outboard gear for sonar that digidesign does for protools? i've always wondered about how comparable they are in a toe-to-toe contest.

i loved my tascam tape portastudio. then i got cakewalk. but then i tried this fostex thingy a couple years ago, and it sucked balls. too many buttons and menus with a dinky screen and heiroglyphics. back to cakewalk.

i must not have grabbed the lastest, latest version of the uploader directory, so what we have is a few days old. i can see about fixing that once the wiki's back up.

Re: New pedal

very few vendors are carrying them as of yet over here, but i'm keeping a watchful eye. my problem is i can't be arsed to ditch my other gear in order to score one. i'm basically going to have to donate body fluids or something to start saving since we still have another $2k - 3k left of recording/m...

eff yeah. if a jb can make the notoriously muddy jag-stang bite, then it's definitely on the right track.

i'll agree that the duncan distotion and all "duncan designed" pups are of poor quality, but for different reasons. the screamin demon, though, is a bad ass. tone for days.

yeah, this wouldn't be for the marshall. . . probably for the prosonic, mainly. i've already got the speakers, and i'm looking for a cabinet (something cheap but durable). i think i've found some good info for wiring it up in 4ohm mode.

if your experience is limited to one model of pup, then you should at least consider a different model in your search since their tonal qualities range widely.

i've already used my quad of celestions in a 4x12 cab, so i'm left with 2 pair of 8ohm 12" speakers to figure something out for. what i'm after is what the impedance options would be.
