That Sun Face on the right looks like a custom build.

Thing is, at the volume Mascis plays, I wonder if you could actually discern which fuzz pedal he's using at any one time?

How to become a very one dimensional rock guitarist, at least. Learning scales doesn't mean you have to use them all the time. I never write solos or parts based around music theory- but knowing certain scales means you've got a "box of tricks" you can apply to certain situations. I am no...

  • Don't learn scales. Seriously, how rock & roll is Do-Re-fucking Mi? Just cop riffs instead.
  • Watch TV all night, and idly try to play along with all the incidental music. (Including the advertisements.)

I don't think so, but to be honest I never use the vibrato.

DR Tite Fit are my favourites, but they're a bit on the expensive side. Nowadays I use GHS Boomers, they're not as good as DR but the price is right.

They should be fine. Initially, I strung mine with 11-50. Now I'm using 10-52. Only problem with the heavier bottom E is, it doesn't thread down into the centre of the tuning peg like the other strings do.

CIJ pickups are teh sux0r, and anyone who tells you different needs their ears syringing. (This is not a dig against CIJ guitars, they just require a little work to bring them up-to-spec.) I've never had cause for complaint with Seymour Duncan pickups, so they're my recommendation based on personal ...

Weird. The switches on mine were switchcraft. They were really high quality - everything on the guitar was. Mine had no identification stamped on them. The ones in the photo look suspiciously similar -- you can almost see into the guts of the switch. Switchcraft switches are kind of more closed, an...

it's probably the nicest neck i've played. i was trying out the BBE soul vibe with it and ended up with this instead. That guitar looks like the identical twin of my '65 reissue. What's the quality of the fretboard like? Mine is quite porous, which seems to be a common issue with Japanese Fenders, ...

That decal looks odd. On lefties, don't they usually omit the model name and just have the Fender logo?

Re: mustang saddly

have most other people done this - i know it's fairly common - but does it seriously have that much of an effect? I tape my bridge posts, but only because I never use the vibrato. As others have noted, if you do use the vibrato and the bridge cannot rock then the strings may drag over the saddles. ...

Nah, a cockernee Lahndan sort. I don't think there's a decent guitar setter-upper, salesman or luthier within the entire bottom left of this sceptred isle. Despite all those WTF Totnes School of Luthiery ads in guitar magazines. Mansons in Exeter are good, however they will insist on refinishing yo...
