Watching an guitar on the ebay (know I shouldn't) but anyway it's got this installed in the bridge. Whatisit?

what guitar is it in? something 70s - 80s japanese? ibanez and greco had some pickups like that. some of the univox/matsumoku pickups mounted like that.

Sorry, I should have said. This pickup is completely alien to the guitar it's in. It is a cuckoo in the nest.

The guitar is from the early 70s, but I don't want to say what it is. It's cheap at the moment!

My old Ibanez AR100's pickups (end ofthe 70s/beginning of the 80s) had that sort of three-screw mounting; it's certainly unusual.

Whether that says anything about the quality of the pickup, I wouldn't know. FWIW, mine were V2s and they were very nice...very beefy and hot. The screw polepieces on both coils in that photo is different from them, though.

Ho ho.

On reflection, I decided against getting this. Might regret it, but I've got a nice Hagstrom Swede already. Went for £280, which is a bargain.
