I used to play 5 all the time, went back to 4, and now play VI (and 4 occasionally). Not sure exactly why, but going back to 5 string generally does not interest me at all (though there is occasional utility, and if I did a reunion with an old band, there's one song in particular I never could transpose over to 4 string); perhaps for the same reason that I have no interest in having a soul patch
