What is the most you have ever paid for a guitar?

My competition mustangs were both about $2,000. My 64 Jaguar coming in was $2,200.

$350 for Epiphone Wilshire 1966 reissue, LP Junior DC BYO kit for $300 including shipping, once almost bought gorgeous Tokai Love Rock TV Yellow Junior DC for about $650, but thanks god was outbidded, I have no idea what would I do with such beautiful but fragile treasure - don't feel myself calmly carrying in a gigbag anything apart from strats or tele.

This may sound craaazzy but the two most expensive guitars I have bought (new) is a $850 - 2000 American Standard sunburst Strat that I have had out of the OHSC for about 5 minutes

and a 1959 Jazzmaster for $417.50 That has been in the OHSC for the past 45 years.

The least I had spent on a guitar was $25 on a 1957 Telle that I sold 10 years later

I tried to be a player but could never learn. (Tone death and no rhythm at all) I have 3 other guitars and 2 amps setting in my music room that gets about 30 minutes of plunking every week. I donâ€™t think of myself as a collector, more of a person that canâ€™t part with anything.

I've spent a little under $1,000 on the '65 jag I'm putting together... I've got a few hundred to go, I think. Funniest part is that I already had the body and chrome, and the neck was free. It was a cool story, the owner had a $250 ad up for a "duo sonic" neck. I contacted the seller and told him I loved the neck but couldn't pay that much. He responded quickly, telling me that he was just sick of the guitar business and wanted out, so he gave me a pile of duo parts for $150. He said he got the neck off his beat up '65 jag and put a "real" reissue jaguar neck on it. The neck had, get this - a factory duo logo, and yet it came off a '65 jag and was stamped at the heel as a '65 jag neck! I ended up selling the body and tuners he had thrown in from a duo and got to keep the neck for less than free. I still don't understand how I've spent what I have on this project.

On the flip side, I have a '46 Gibson J-45 that was purchased for around $400.
