Eastwood Airline '59 Custom 3P

Post by moogmusic »

I've just noticed that Eastwood have finally made these for the differently handed. I was very close to buying one a few years ago but then the '59 Custom version was only available for the righty and a very nice email exchange with Mike Robinson informed me they would only upgrade a standard one and charge for the extra bits which got a bit too pricey.

I went down to their main dealer in Liverpool and tried out the standard in left-handed and the '59 in right and I recall being impressed but I wondered if anyone owned one and had a more long-term view? Thanks

I'm with Tim; they're guitar-shaped objects (or Shad's differently-shaped Epiphones). Not worth it. And Mike Robinson is a knob who doesn't care about his product or his customers. Avoid.

They did a kickstarter lately too - not sure if that's something you can hop on after it's done, though.

I bought that baritone tele neck from them - they were dead good.

As you're a true gent, I'll be the one to link it.

Why I won't be buying from Eastwood/myrareguitars again...

And moogmusic, if you really want to get your Jack White on, the true Res-O-Glas bodies are the way to go. Customer service nonsense aside, the Eastwood stuff is just boring wood. The magic of watching The White Stripes perform on their home turf a few years back was truly a bit of magic, definitely heightened by watching Jack fight with the Airline and tune on the fly like Hendrix. It was enough to make me all quivery in and around the mouth hole.

It was a pretty absurd situation, and I was a mere observer that glommed on early. That's a thread I never grow tired of rereading.

It's a shame too, as he often has very nice used pieces for sale at reasonable prices under the 'myrareguitars' moniker.
