New Ibanez Talman Bass

Post by othomas2 »

Always intrigued me the 'Talman', seeing Noodles from 'The Offspring' using one back in the day. Liked the shape, strongly due to my Jaguar-esq urges as a youngster too.

Roll on quite a few years I've come to see / play & sell the very popular, awful sounding Talman acoustics... so they kinda grew nasty for me again.

More recently though I've discovered notable musicians like 'Jeff Buckley', & the geezer from 'Explosions in the Sky' ...... & 'DOOG !!!!!' using the electrics & its kind of peaked my interest again, still never having played one though.

... & then this comes along.

Faith restored Ibanez, Acoustic model forgiven.

I really like it. Seems nice & balanced now & Very mature looking. Nice colours too.

Headstock aside, I really like the look of them.

I like the whole package. They happen to bring back the Talman standard electrics?

These will be $299 for the ones with blocks, $199 for the other version.

Good price.

I'd take the green one. I like the blocked/bound neck.

Looks like some nice tonal optioms for the price.

I probably wom't get one unless they start popping up used or clearance tho.

I want a bass with that pickup layout, but I'm a little off put by it's looks, and the headstock looks like misshaped thumb.

These are fucking brilliant. Well done, Ibanez.

Not just these, but many of the Ibanez's newest NAMM basses are very well thought out. Their renewed dedication to split pickups is a very welcome sight in a day and age where seemingly they had given up on rock bass players.

Yes. They did the Bob Weir guitar which was also based on late 70's models.

Really dig the body shape, but it sure looks uncomfortable with the hard edges...I'd probably still buy one if I liked how it played. Especially the ones with B&B necks.

Closest thing so far is the Roadcore series. They aren't bad, but nowhere near the quality of the MIJ Talman electrics. These basses are about the same I'd imagine.

I like the blue and black binding of this Artcore(but not Gold Hardware). I feel like Ibanez has made too many variations of the Artcore series to keep straight. They also have colors and different configs that I see in shops that never appeared on any website or at least any US based website. It's a shame cause I think the series is solid.

Fuck. I was saving up to buy either a Pat Smear Hagstrom or a PS4.

But now I'm not so sure.
