Ibanez Black Eagle - NPGD:

Post by othomas2 »

NEW PENDING GEAR DAY.

Been pondering about whether to order this since they were announced at Winter Namm. They were all pre-sold immediately, but was allowed to take months to decide prior to the shipping date. I had a meeting with the Ibanez rep and just brought the topic up. That was last week, six months later. They landed from Indonesia into the UK that day and had to make a spare of the moment purchase, and had to say "YES" !!

Remember is really fondly mainly due to the Noveselic connection, although it went through a few guises from Bleach to In Utero.

These are made in very limited numbers and only 8 released into the Uk. Not sure how many Worldwide though.
Pending, as I haven't quite paid for it and got it home yet haaaa...

Feels and sounds MUCH better than expected.

UGLY BUT COOL SOMEHOW>
PS: Sorry for the shitty phone pics, more later no doubt.

Beautiful. Every time I've seen photos of the vintage ones I think how cool they look.

Ibanez has so many forgotten classics.

Sorry but I'll be the first to say I think it's ugly.

Much prefer the thru neck bass guitars from that era that Aria Pro were making. Aesthetically speaking.

The neck inlays are what push it over the edge for me, but I love everything else about it.

That's my feeling too. So bad, it's good.

The bonus is that it sounds and feels great, I'm surprised... but I knew the Indonesian made Ibanez are superb... and for the odd occasion I'll be recording it'll do me well. If it was a general release I probably wouldn't have bothered, but the very limited numbers and the fact I got a it for £100 off the street price made it worth it.
Thanks for the comments, interesting to hear.

I saw one of these in a music store all the way down here in Tasmania, around 1989. It was cheap, and I remember thinking, that's actually pretty cool, but of course I had no money.

I live in the UK and mine arrived last month.
I took the pickguard off but needed to cover the pickguard effect with black tape.
