[NGD, incoming] Gibson Les Paul Custom 57, TV Yellow (2004)

Post by cleo »

Hey guys,

I finally got myself to pull the trigger and fulfill my dream about a TV Yellow Les Paul Standard or Custom.

When it first came to me that I want a bigger sister to my Les Paul Special in TV Yellow, I searched the net and found this thread:
WARNING: Les Paul Forum
Now, one year later, one of these 60 bad boys turned up on Ebay Kleinanzeigen, which is like a German version of Craigslist and I scraped together all my cash and bought it, it should arrive next week.

For now, take this pic (better pictures of similar LPs are in the LP Forum thread that I linked):

I will post better pictures after I receive it, maybe I will do a video on it too.

Dunno if there are other LP enthusiasts on here,
anyway I wanted to share it as I'm really psyched about Gibsons, especially in TV Yellow.

Cheers!

That color works so well for a LP Custom. Post pics when you get it!

You're posting a link to the page containing the image, not the actual image. For the IMG tag to work, the url needs to end in .jpg or some other kind of image file.

Sorry guys, I had to work a lot of shifts past week, so it took me some time to take some pictures…

For the rest of the Imgur-album click here: LANK

Playing-wise and tone-wise it's a beast. Nothing more to add - it delivers heavy bottom-end tones, does the cleans nice (although my JMI-4 tends to break up early when stuffed with tones by the Custom, so gotta be playing gently) and with a little OD it sounds heavenly.

The only small disappointment was that the colour does not match the TV Yellow of my 60s Special RI - too bad, wanted to have the twin feeling going on ;)

When I get used to the big 57 neck profile entirely, I'll do a video on it - any recommendations about tones, licks and songs to present? Mick Ronson stuff maybe?

Anyways, glad to see the interest in a non-shortscale non-fender guitar.

Oh, I really like that. I don't know why, but I always associate TV Yellow with Juniors and I'm not sure I've ever seen it on a normal LP before. It looks great.

Yellow looking very nice from over, sure beats the easy-to-spot Creamy Bile Custom LPs from the 70s and early 80s.
