NAD: Marshall Master Lead Combo

Since buying othomas2's Marshall Lead 100 combo a few years ago I've become sort of obsessed with 70s solid state Marshalls. This came up on eBay for Â£60BIN so how could I possibly refuse?

Picked it up today. Haven't had a go myself yet but the guy I bought it from had it cranked in the hallway of his terraced house (kept making jokes about how the wife might divorce him for it - perhaps he was serious, who knows?) and it sounded INCREDIBLE, tasteless blues licks notwithstanding. Should hopefully put it through its paces at practice later this week, so I shall report back!

Thought I'd have a bit of a mess about with it at home this evening. Plugged it in, switched it on, red light comes on and then... nothing. I know it was definitely working earlier today because the bloke tested it out in front of me. Since then it has literally been sat in the boot of my car whilst I went and wandered round the Tate Liverpool, met my sister for a curry and then drove back to Leeds. I'm stumped. WHAT HAPPEN!?

Yes, several times. Sorted it now anyway, power switch seems to have a loose connection so I'll have to get that looked at! Shouldn't be an expensive fix.

Anyway, it sounds incredible! There's a small amount of buzz from the left speaker, but weirdly enough it's only when playing my bottom string on the neck pickup. From what the eBay fella said it sounds like it hasn't been played in years, so I imagine it could probably do with a general MOT sorta thing. Either way it's well worth Â£60! I suspect this will become my main gigging amp once it's been serviced; the Lead 100 needs two people to carry, whereas I can carry this myself with one hand. And the volume difference isn't that significant...

I love these, was neeeearly my first ever non-practise amp. Sounds like the power switch thing should be an easy fix, I'd even recommend you have a look yourself if I wasn't worried for yo safety

It looks cool to me. Nowt wrong with some solid state. If you're getting a buzz from one speaker while playing the low E on the neck pickup there could be a small tear in that cone. I had an identical issue with a cab I picked up.

i picked up a marshall MG100DFX on monday night for Â£25. nowhere near as exciting as this boy, but still. cheap-ola.
