Lightweight 1x12 cab?

Post by Thom »

Anyone got any recommendations for a lightweight, or as lightweight as possible, 1x12 cab?

The Orange 1x12 is light Thom, I use two of them with the TT.

Failing that, Harley Benton do a 1x12 that is even lighter.
Mike gave me one years ago but it eventually dropped to bits, the couriers damaged it to begin with, then it got knocked around at the Punk band gigs. I imagine they will hold up okay under normal circumstances though.

I don't think I tried lifting it, but I tried playing through that square Fender cab, I think it's for the Super Champ or something. Sounded good, I used a different amp though.

I have a feeling it's lighter than the Orange.

The second version of the Nighttrain cab sounds good too. It's a bit bigger than the first version, but the first version doesn't sound good by itself.

Zilla do a few 1x12s: LANK. The "dinky" version is particularly smol.

They're great people to deal with, and the prices are reasonable with plenty of choice for speakers too.

Cool thanks guys. I was looking at zilla earlier!
I used to have a couple of Orange 1x12 Fran, so that’s definitely an option.

Matamp have a lightweight cab line now as well. Not sure if they would be considered lightweight or normal weight given that their normal amps/cabs are the heaviest thing in the world.

Bought an Orange PPC112 today, went for it for a few reasons:
- Have had one before so know it’s good quality and will sound great
- I like Vintage30 speakers, and after looking at some other cabs, pricing up speaker swaps I came to my senses and stopped looking for something different for the sake of it
- 20% off eBay purchases today so got it for nearly £60 off

I have a Blackstar HTV 112. It's quite big for a 1x12 (so there's some bulk) but lighter than Marshall and Orange cabs. Also the dimensions and construction are similar to a Vox AC15. I popped the badge off 'cos it looks a bit shit, though.

The Orange 1x12 are nice! I use two with a Mesa Mini Rec. Sounds real good. A little late, but I got a Panama 1x12 off reverb for $130. It's got some sort of v30 copy in it but it sounds really good and is smaller (but deeper) than my Orange one.

The European (web)shops sell this Brand called DV Mark. The 12 inch cab only weighs 8 kilograms.
