Building guitar case racking for my music room

For all non-guitar instruments; mandolins, synths, kazoos, and anything else musical that doesn't fit elsewhere.

Building guitar case racking for my music room

Post by NickS »

I couldn't find a suitable rack to take guitar cases so I thought I'd build one. Limited to a run of about 1.6m which will allow me to put 9 cases on that wall. The rest will have to go on shelves above the rack.
Using 25mm (1 in) chrome tube for display stands, cut to 30cm (1 ft) lengths:

1.6 m of 95mm pencil-edge wide lacquered oak threshold 22mm thick, screwed to the wall abut 85 cm (34 in) up and with the sockets for the 25mm tube:

Partially assembled with end caps on the tube:

Ta. One of my colleagues gave me a length of larch that he had routed to give the rounded "pencil edges", but it was too rustic for my wife's taste so we paid good money for an oak plank. As my colleague says, you can't even see it once the guitar cases are in place.

Ha. Was she not allowed to put her guitar in the new rack because she criticised your original choice of toan wood?
