Post by SAVEStheDAY »

Looks like there are new Affinity Jazzmasters on the way in burgundy mist and LPB featuring Strat trems:

Looks like a Squier version of the Fender American Performer one.

Like the BMM.

Fuck after I just bought a CV one? Fender should really take my personal spending habits into account when planning product releases.

P90s AND a Strat bridge; you made the right choice, sir

That said, where does it say P90s?

They look like Jazzmaster pickups, but their construction is really more similar to the P90 style disguised under Jazzmaster covers.

It was said earlier that J Mascis JMs have p90s in them disguised as JM pups. Rob's Paranormal Cabronita tele has that kind of pups too. Though it's not a fact that they would put them into Affinity series

Sure, but there's no info that says either way? The VMs had "real" JM pickups; it's not as if they need to be made out of gold or something

edit: have just seen the polepieces properly; defo looks P90-y, I gotcha.

I enjoyed this guy' comparison of the CV and the P90-laden J Mascis:

Sounds from 0:29: it's really not "night and day", just a change in output and top end.

I sound like an asshole, I'm sorry. It's just my knee jerk attempt to share the "knowledge".

I haven't even noticed the pole pieces. I guess it's a limited run where they try and utilize the JMJM and Cabronita p90s.

Very nice demo by the way, thanks for sharing

TRUTH

I wonder how many people have already eyed-up one of these to convert into a "proper" JM? It's a very pretty colour for sure.

The one you bought is a considerably higher quality instrument.

The Affinity series is the cheapest stuff Squier make. The Stratocasters are bad enough to put people off playing guitar

Mate I own a bullet Mustang and an Affinity Strat. I know they’re not great. I like the Affinity stuff because it’s cheap enough to tear apart. And since I’ve actually got the space to work on my guitars, I’ve just been window shopping for cheap ones.

(LET ME BE CLEAR, etc.) the CV Jazzmaster is the best one I own. I just like beaters I guess

You're still in the territory when you can happily modify it or refinish it.

I doubt anyone would call heresy on any recently built guitar save for a custom shop thingie or a now discontinued model

A Strat trem on a Jazzmaster is just wrong.
