At a gig I use the tuner in my GR-55 or M9. At the jam, where you're expected to have tuned up before you go on, and on acoustic guitar or mandolin I use the clip-ons.

exactly. when we setup miley with her ukulele, we got her a clip-on. when she switched to bass, we got her a pedal.
