Help

Post by Justin »

No matter how hard I try, I can't seem to replicate either the tone or the mutes to the intro to Smells Like Teen Spirit.

I've never heard anyone else do it either, so I guess I'm not the only retard.

Actually, I am tone deaf MOTHERFUCKER. But not so much as that I can't tell that when I play it or anyone else plays it other than Kurt, it just doesn't sound right. Most of the time it doesn't sound like it even when he played it.

you're being serious? My bad, dude...

I can get the Kurdtz with my jagstang, bridge bucker, Grunge pedal straight through the board...as for settings, you'll need to feel around. Doog would be a better resource.

lmfao i'm not being serious like "hey help" I'm just being an arse, but I am seriously tone deaf, mostly. :(

I'm talking about the clean tone intro though. I've never heard anyone nail it.

I know exactly what you mean. It always sounds really bad when anyone tries it, on the album it has this weird tone that seems impossible to get.

Mind you, listen to him live, he can't even get it.

Bear in mind how much studio sheen went into that album. Sounds like a compressed singlecoil to me.

get yourself seated comfortably.
first.
get your clean as clean as possibly and add some gain, preferrably from your amp, not a pedal. put a slight chorus on. preferrably a small clone with the depth off and at about 3 or so. and then turn the fucking amp up really really loud. don;t be afraid of all the strings.
and its ok if your tone deaf. i wear two hearing aids and can;t even hear myself talk without them.

Why? because you found out you can't get that "nirvana" sound from a DS-1? that its really a "grunge" pedal?
