Thanks- it’s a heavily worn in competition orange that supposedly spent the first 40 years of its life in the good behavior room of a prison. There’s still remnants of the red comp stripe on the side by the strap button.

heres the original color under the pickguard:

Shot this Player Mustang on ebay for cheap. I had not thought that it is such a nice player. Really love this combination: Mustang with maple neck.

God, the Prisonstang - my white whale.
Didn't it originally belong to Rodvonbon (or how was that?)?

Rodvonbon had it circa 2008, then Mezzio, then Shad.

Been waiting until I get it fully sorted before making its own thread for it, but this is how it looks now - hopefully I haven't ruined the mojo

IMO all the mods to this guitar are very pretty questionable and were done at a time when competition Mustangs weren’t quite as valuable as they are now. At least it wasn’t teardropped or routed for humbuckers.

-the forearm contour was actually sanded down, my guess is the paint was chipping there and the owner went for comfort over style, or maybe they didn’t like the stripe, or backed out in the middle of a full refin. Kinda wish at least some of the stripe was still present on the front but I’m not touching the finish.

-at one point, modern tuners were installed. It’s back to factory now but with conversion bushings, which unfortunately put a small crack in the top of the headstock shortly after I got it from Shad. I had the holes reamed out enough so there shouldn’t be any more stress on the crack but I’m watching it.

-the tailpiece is raised up pretty high and the adjustments are stripped out. The chrome plating is pitted and rusting underneath. Trying to decide if I want to replace the control plate and vibrato assembly with less rusty original parts.

-Jumbo frets. Fun and easy to play, but string roll off is a much bigger issue than it is on my 66.

-incorrect (MIJ) pickguard and Duncan Cool Rails - it has a repro aged pearl and Lace Sensor Emerald and Purple set now.

The bridge actually looks to be original from the domes, but I’m assuming the saddles were just as rusty as the tailpiece and someone replaced them with graphtech Jaguar saddles. I thought about ordering replacements, but due to of the frets/rolloff issue I’m considering replacing it with a 52mm bridge like a staytrem or Marr/TVL.

As far as Rod, I’m not sure, was watching his old videos when I got the prison stang and wondering what happened to the rest of his collection, I could be remembering wrong but I think he sold a bunch.

Can I call the absolutest dibs on this (I'm surely about 28th in line). This needs to be united with the Crackwhore Jag, so the world can end in total chaos... :o

Those LPB Toronados are just awesome looking.

I need a regular one to go with my Toronado GT. I would really like the Deluxe Series with the P-90s.

Here's an up to date pic of my Shortscales. Please ignore ugly duvet.

L-R IBM AVRI 62 (Mojo pickups, 65 slab MMII neck, Fendee KC Jag (Closet Classic), Thinline Jaguar (Custom Alt 88s), CAR CIJ SD Hot/1/4 Pounder), Fiesta Lacquer series jag (Rosewood board), OTM Vintera Jaguar. On top is a Squier Mustang with Antiquity P90s and a Fender (Player?) Mustang in olive. The Blue Mustang is likely to get returned to stock and punted.

That's quite impressive collection. I tried one of those semi hollow Jaguars and was curious what other people's experiences were.
