Zoom 9000

Post by dezb1 »

Continuing my foray into redundant guitar technology from my youth - and an obsession with NIN - I bought this:

Orderd an appropriate power supply as the one that came with it is 3w not 1.3w (which i only noticed due to the excessive hum it was causing). Powered it up with batteries and the hum disappeared.will test it properly on Monday when the family are at work/school and I have the new power supply

TBH, more than necessary wattage should not be an issue - less would be. The Zoom 9000 manual says the recommended PSU is 7.5v at 200 mA (1.5 VA) though the PSUs I get when I Google Zoom 9000 PSU are 15 VA (7.5 V AC at 2000 mA). If the new PSU doesn't help, it could be that the smoothing caps in the Zoom 9000 need replacing.

Well new psu finally appeared and this wee thing is pretty cool - in a naff totally outdated kinda way. Perfectly recreated the NiN Ruiner sound and has some weird synth like effects in there too definitely worth the £25 I paid for it and the psu.
