Jazz bass/mustang type knobs

Post by James »

So I have 2 normal ones, and a dual concentric set.

I put them on the control plate for the first time last night, and noticed that the normal ones are a bit pointier than the dual ones. It's not really a big problem or anything, but it'd be nice to have it match a bit better (considering I bothered to get the dual concentric ones and have it look roughly correct on the mustang control plate). Are they easily available like that?

Well the bottom one is still pointy, it's just the top one that's weird.

You could just get another set of dual concentrics.

there are 2 types of mustang/jag knob

the roundey one is american (grub screw)
the pointy one is from japan (no grub screw)

the only mustang from japan ever to have the roundey (period correct knob) is the new MG65. the dbl, dkr, oly one.

the compstang, 69' stang, and 90's stang all had pointy knobs.
never owned a jag but im guessing that japan jags still come with the pointy kind.

the pointy kind are only 75 cents. you will pay more for roundey ones w/ the grub screw.

Cheers rob. That makes sense as the dual oes use a grub screw and are american.

I'll probably just keep an eye on ebay then.

These are actually the same price from guitar parts resource, I shouldve picked up a couple (i got the dual concentric from them and some other bits), but I can always get some later.

the jazz bass ones are way more common on ebay here, ebay uk sucks for anything slightly unusual.

So the two large jazz bass ones are the same as that second picture?
