Small Stone Question

Post by JordanD »

Is there any way I can mod my small stone to lose the volume drop without changing the actual sound of the phasing?

The Stone that I bought off Shadow doesn't have a volume drop at all, but it also squeals like fuck if i leave the switch up and take the lead out of it with the amp still on. I'm pretty sure it's non-true bypass cause i can still hear the phasing sweep when it's off with the colour up. It could have something to do with that.

I hear putting a new battery/using a power supply can help.

I use a power supply and it's the true bypass model. I use it a helluva lot so the volume drop really irritates me.

Does nobody have a clue then? Is there anywhere on the net that you pedal people know of that I can look at? I've not had much luck myself.

Are you sure? My Small Clone has the pointy knob and sounds fine, yet my Small Stone with the Big Muff Knob bleeds the phasing into my bypass.

It's possible there was a crossover- did the Clone come in a wood or card box?

All the ones with the round knobs are supposed to be TB. There may be some pointy knobbed ones that are also TB in the crossover from wooden box to cardboard.

ElCapitan - what do you mean big muff knobs?

Presumably he means the round ones.

The Big Muffs had pointy knobs beforehand too, Cap'n.

Exactly. That's a confusing statement.

A round knob Small Slone shouldn't have any bleed. Open it up and have a look at how many lugs are on teh switch.

The Small Stone I sold you wasn't TB. Came in the wooden box like 5 years ago and that. It's only noticeable when you have the color switch up though.

Does that explain the squealing then?

It was a wooden box. Thats un-true bypass then? I don't notice an audible difference with it in the signal chain. I do know that if i stick a TB ped in front of the stone it doesn't bleed quite as much.
